Hey guys! Over the last, I guess I'd say 5 years, I lost the desire to watch much wrestling. If I'm honest, I got fatigued with "work rate" and just watching matches for a good match...which is what the majority of my focus is in my resurgence of interest from 2010-2017. I began to miss engaging stories...we all know what a mess WWE is now, so I eventually fell away for the most part.
I've kept up with pretty much everything going on over these 5/6 years, but between what I already stated, and that I have been living two states away from my wrestling buddies, thus having no one to watch with, I didn't have much interest...until this past week. Ironically, I tuned into Raw hoping to see Cody show up and what he would do...we all know how that panned out, but surprising, even to me, WWE did enough on Raw to make me want to see next week. I know, I know...it's cool to hate WWE these days, but it is what it is, and if I pretend to not be entertained this past Monday, that'd be a lie.
Since then I have watched Scott Hall's Doc again, the Kliq Doc again, and a couple episodes of Raw from 1996. I started Now Way Out 2002 and will finish that soon. I'm listening to Scott's You Shoot...so it's safe to say that the desire for wrestling has been stoked again for me.
It helps that we are moving back to my hometown. I'll be moving into our new townhouse on April 15th, the wife and little girl will be joining me at the end of the school year. Needless to say I am pretty excited about going back to my hometown, to be back with my buddies. We've already made plans to watch the April 18th Raw together at my new place...bring on the wrestling.

It's not as bad as the marks make it seem but it's still not good

I don’t watch the weekly shows, because the German commentary is awful. This is also why I cannot watch AEW. The commentators must be the worst.
However I do watch all PPVs and also enjoy them alot.
If you enjoy it, have fun. We should open a „WWE glorification thread“ just to have the opportunity to have a positive talk about their product. It’s not all bad.
BTW I also start to like/accept the NXT2.0 concept. The addition of guest wrestlers from Raw and SD really adds alot to the rookie project. AEW has filled the NXT Black and Gold niche so a change was needed and it is not bad at all.

WWE gradually declined when the brand split returned. However it's not as bad as people make out.
2009/2012 were way worse IMO.

If you enjoyed what you saw on Monday then more power to you. I think this is the lowest period in the history of the promotion but to each their own. Like what you like and enjoy it, man!

Honestly pro wrestling is enjoyable all around right now through many different companies. Great time to be a fan. Especially if you ignore the constant negativity towards it online.

The op is being super positive with his outlook on wrestling and most of the responses are the complete opposite. So lame...
I'm not gonna say that WWE right now is the best it's ever been or whatever but it's portrayed here and in a lot of places as the most awful wrestling to ever be produced which is far from the case. There are definitely a lot of good things happening in WWE. A lot of guys and girls there are doing great work right now, Alpha Academy, RKBro, Street Profits, Sami, Reigns, Brock, The Usos, all of them are doing great. The women's division is a real highlight for me too as they've got probably the best women's division in wrestling right now with Bianca, Becky, Sasha, Charlotte, Ronda, Rhea Ripley, and others doing some really good stuff right now.
It's not the perfect wrestling show but if you like it and you want to continue watching it that's a great thing. There's no objectivity when it comes to the enjoyment of wrestling, I don't watch every week live or anything so it probably helps me as to not burn out but I still find it enjoyable a lot of the time especially when many of my favorites are involved. Like what you like, man.

Raw is...fine. Not as bad as it was in 2011 or 2018, but not fantastic either. Smackdown has clearly been seen by the company as the A show since they moved to Fox, which can be seen in the fact that Smackdown has a more compelling product.
All that said, NXT 2.0 is far and away the best weekly WWE product, despite the current top champion of a developmental brand being 41 year old washed since 2015 Dolph Ziggler. A lot of future top stars and Mania main eventers on that brand.

So lame... you know what I think is lame? how those who said negative things about wwe never attacked anyone else’s opinion but all those for wwe have to take stabs at the others to try and delegitimize their opinions. god forbid we don’t have an echo chamber of wwe sycophants lol

The good old days for me will always be the late 90s and early 2000’s but we’ve seen a lot good content in modern wrestling over the last 5-10-15 years. I’d even say WWE today has a lot of potential.
I’d say you should check out the Lesnar/Reigns stuff from last nights SD with the forklift/SUV... one of the best things to happen in WWE for a long time.

Maybe give AEW & NJPW a shot.
If you want pure entertainment (like an old vaudeville show), check out Lucha Vavoom.

Glad you’re having fun, man. Hopefully you’re out of stage 2 fandom now and you can enjoy wrestling for what it is. If you do find yourself getting drawn into the negativity again, you know you can live without it too. Don’t devote 3 hours of your life every Monday to something you hate. Hobbies shouldn’t be chores!

I hope you find enjoyment in WWE because I can’t. Kept watching hoping things would “get better” but those days have long passed. Sometimes, I’ll skip through and watch bits and pieces of Smackdown on DVR. I wouldn’t touch Raw with a 10 foot pole. Each time I watched it I felt like I’m wasting my time. NXT is like Raw Jr. lame and uninteresting. The reason why I kept watching bad WWE TV in the recent years is that it was the company I loved as a kid. As for most of us, we probably got into pro wrestling because of WWE. I get a nostalgic feeling for things at times. If I can come up with some weird/lame analogy for most peoples experience with WWE, it’s like putting up with a sh*tty relationship where the partner constantly cheats on you and treats you like crap, but you put up with it hoping that they change because you remember the good times that you had, but they never change. A little dramatic, but that’s my experience with that company. Other than collecting figures, I won’t waste anymore time and money on that company.
If you love consistent story-telling where things pay off and you’re rewarded for watching. Where you feel like you didn’t waste your time, and actually feel like you enjoy what you’re watching, AEW is for you.

I personally think there is a lot to like about every wrestling promotion or brand right now. And every time in pro wrestling there has always been parts of it that sucked too. I just find now that once I stopped reading spoilers, and internet reports about things, it has made my love for pro wrestling much better.
