I was watching battleground 2014; very underrated main event with cena defending the title in the 4way.
Now I particularly remember this match as transition to summer slam programs but seeing them hint cena as the face and Roman being the next on the rise was cool. We would later see these two face as we know so it added cool prelude
But I remember with the match and the build there was excitement around Roman. Roman had many breakout performances and at the time I was excited to see his rise.
And I think the crowd and fans were behind him at this Period of time. But between his minor injury in 2014 and the controversial rumble win that was lost.
It’s interesting to see the man we see today actually over as a rising face

Well two times this past week, over 2.3 million people were "looking" at Roman Reigns.

It’s crazy that Reigns was one of the most hated guys as a face to now being one of the most loved guys as a heel.

Roman as a talent has always been fantastic.
The biggest slight on Roman's career will always be the butchering of his character from silent bad-ass to "tater tots" and the subsequent backlash to his initial "Vince's choice" mega-push as a Cena/Hogan-esque white meat superhero babyface.

It’s fairly muted on TV compared to how loud it is in person You’d have thought you were present for The Rocks 2010 return when he came out last Friday

Roman has always delivered in the ring. His mic skills just needed work, but he got there. Marks just threw a fit because Vince went with him over Ambrose, even though Ambrose couldn’t carry the company as a top guy. Not as Dean Ambrose and not in that company. So fans held it against Roman. Ended up working out for both guys though.

I wasn’t expecting Reigns to ever turn heel tbh but it’s good that the company pulled it off. I didn’t think he’d be this good & I didn’t think the fans would really be into him this much.

I agree,I think most seen Roman as a lot more natural heel then face but I didn't think he would be this great at it and the fans would be this into it. Its not many guys in any company that can dominate a show like Roman has and still get the reactions he's getting that's saying a lot imo, just look at Seth and Drew for examples the fans turned on them pretty quick after getting to the top for a shorter period of time.

It’s crazy that Reigns was one of the most hated guys as a face to now being one of the most loved guys as a heel. I think it's because he's so much more believable as the character he's playing now. He's committed to what he's doing, not saying he wasn't before, but I honestly felt at one point they'd do a Cena and never turn him the way it was going. His work with Jey Uso at the start of his run got a lot of people on side and he's the highlight of most PPV's for me because his matches have that feel of being important and "can't miss". I'm just enjoying his work, and while I never hated him as a face, it seems to be more natural for him.

It’s because he’s not being feed those corny lines anymore. Literally, the reeks of being a badass and that’s what he should of been. If he were a face again, he needs to be the silent type ass kicker. Lines like suckingsuskatache or whatever does not work for a guy like Reigns. That’s more for Cena who mocks/goofs off other wrestlers. I have a feeling Heyman is going to turn on him tomorrow.

I still don't think he'd be over as a face. The reason it's working so well now is quite literally because he's had a ridiculous CV given to him that the stats and numbers don't lie, so we all have no choice but to accept him as legit. He works as a heel because he generally doesn't have a likeable personality. He's smug, cocky, and his moveset is slow, methodical and dull. He won the Rumble and even had the Rock try to get him over, but nobody cared (and they rightly held fire on the trigger at 31). He had the entire Royal Rumble devoted around him and his WWE Championship so that he could then chase it back against Triple H at Wrestlemania 32. Nobody cared. They had him go over clean on the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, and it still didn't work. Main Event again the following year vs Brock Lesnar to finally beat him clean and redo 31, but he still wasn't accepted. He was still not accepted as a face even after returning from leukemia. But now, with that CV behind him, those stats and numbers behind him, Paul Heyman by his side and a stable in the Bloodline, clean Title wins over the likes of John Cena, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar, they're going to fully push him as the 'GOAT' now. And, ultimately people will end up having no choice but to respect or, acknowledge him with everything they've had him accomplish.
