I am going to meet Sgt Slaughter and was going to have him sign one of the SDCC boxes. I have a regular and a black card. Is this a good idea or would it be better to keep these pristine? Some people feel autographs on packaging actually decreases the value or aesthetic of the packaging. What do you all think? Bad idea? Good idea? If I did have one signed, would one or the other work better? Inside or out of the box?

I personally would get the black card signed since its the rarer of the 2 and paint pens are absolutely the way to go. However I will warn you, Sarge has a giant signature so keep that in mind when making your selection of where you want it signed and with what color. Here's my signed Jakks Classic Sarge to show you what I mean. imgur.com/0tHuLwb

I think it's a good idea especially if you're into keeping things MOC and like autographed items. I personally wouldn't buy any autographed item without a COA so I guess that's a risk for you if you're going to sell it. Not having a COA could lower the price.

Would definitely spend a little more and get a coa to go with it, if you get it signed.

Can't decide where to get the autograph. Front of box? Inside above the crowd? I've been waiting to get this box signed since I ordered it last year so want to make it look nice.

If you can't get a COA from them (which they will usually sell with the signing if you ask), you can ask if you can get a photo of him signing it (even if you have to pay), it's well worth it. Also, I've honestly never really seen a figure go for LESS after it was signed. I've only seen it go for the same price or more. I've heard stories but these are one-offs and extremely rare items like Amazing Fantasy 15 getting cracked out of a 9+ CGC to get signed by Stan Lee so that decreased the value because the grade went down but those are one offs.

I was going to get Sarge to sign some of those figures myself. He was at signing last year and I had two regular and two black cards. I was going to get them signed for friends and myself. I'm sure I may be accused of being a scalper but I'm not. I'm just a pure collector who doesn't sell anything. Anyway the handler asked what I had and I showed him and he got a funny look on his face. He talked to Sarge and the handler said it would be $300 to sign all four. He wanted $100 each to sign the black and $50 each for the regular. I said you've got to be kidding me. The story he told me was "people are selling them on ebay for $800 a piece and Sarge was supposed to get some but even he didn't have any." The kicker was then the handler tried to buy them from me. I said well I'll cut you a deal. If they are going for $800 a piece how about you give me $600 a piece? Needless to say they didn't get signed.

When I met Kane last year, I had a choice of paying $5 per signed item to get the COA. I passed because I had no intent on selling anything so it saved me a few bucks. That said, I met Ted Debiase at another event and there was no COA in place

I will tell you Sarge charges a fortune to get that figure signed. At Wrestlecon he wanted $100 to just sign the regular one. When I took it to his handler he opened the box to check if it was regular or chase. They wanted more to get the chase signed. I just walked away kinda frustrated. If he get paid a flat rate for an appearance he doesn't care how much they charge but he's there on his own he's going to charge at least that much.

Oof. That sucks. Charging higher per the specific item? What a crock. I am not a scalper. I want this for myself. It's not right to charge based on the item like i know you're going to scalp this so I get a cut. Gross. I may not even go now.

And it would make sense with the experiences I've heard. In angry Gen Adnan tone: He wants more money for that one. Allllaaahhh!!!

I was really hyped about getting those signed along with other things I had for other wrestlers. This was at Wrestlecade this past year. He was the first one I went to and that really took the piss out of the whole rest of the day for me. Speaking of Dibaise I went to a signing at a local minor league baseball game he was at several years ago. He was there signing free autographs. Well I walk up with my WWE encyclopedia and he sees it. He tells me it's a collectible and he would have to charge me $20. Mind you he had already been paid by the team to be there. Matter of fact, I saw FTR at a show in Spartanburg a few months ago and I took my buddy's figures to get signed for him since he couldn't make it because of health issues. Well if you got the V.I.P. ticket you got a front row seat, a photo with them, and an autograph from each. When it's my turn in line I notice a sign saying $20 extra for figures. I ask the handler what's the deal with that? He kinda gave me a look like "I know it's messed up." He tells me that he was sorry but they put that sign up right before they let the crowd in. I told him it was ridiculous and he agreed.

Yes -- Jef from Fully Poseable was on the PPW podcast, and they were talking about how wrestlers were requesting more money to get any figures signed.
And -- as others have stated -- Slaughter wanted $100 for each Comic Con figure...

Slaughter's gotta be hip to the collecting scene due to Vala and his YouTube Channel is up to date www.youtube.com/c/SgtSlaughtersSlaughterhouse
