No way were the Steiner Brothers injured at that time frame. Apparently they were off wrestling in USWA and Smoky Mountain Wrestling doing shows for Lawler and Cornette. My guess is that Vince was mad that the Steiners wouldn't do a split after Mania, so therefore they didn't get the Wrestlemania title match against the Quebecers.
There was another story too about them. It was that they had a great offer to return to WCW & wanted out of WWF so started being difficult with Vince...but then the sands shifted down South & that offer was gone....but it was too late..they'd already messed the bed with Vince.
Either way? It's an awful shame.
