Had a random thought today watching back ECW ONS 2006. Seemingly WWE had a formula for WWECW from its debut return to TV. They clearly wanted a veteran on the roster that could help put over new guys. It was Angle in 2006 before he left, and it was Benoit in 2007 before... well.
But given that Mick was decently on TV at the time between the feud with Dreamer/Funk and Flair in 06 and coming back for a few matches in mid 2007, I can't help but think he'd be the perfect choice for ECW champ around Summer/Fall 07. Having Punk chase heel Foley for a few months in the summer of '07 would have been way better than what we got with JoMo who felt like he came out of nowhere literally. Then you could have had guys like Burke, Morrison, Miz chase in the Winter with an even more established star in Punk.
