Which do you have your eye on? I ordered JYD and Wahoo, but I might get the others. They turned out great, and the titles look good too. I feel ya there! I couldn't pass up JYD! Pocketbook denied further purchases, bur yes those belts are 🔥🔥🔥

Powertown is the best, holy crap these belts are amazing. For those that weren't around for Series 1: the belts are going to sell for $50+ loose.

Yeah the belts are great, and a big factor into why I will be ordering 2 of every Ultra they make (of classic wrestlers) - one to open and one to keep packaged. Will we see a Diamond Edition figure from this wave, like we did with Kerry from Wave 1?

I almost ordered 2 myself, one to open and keep and one to sell the figs and keep and extra set of belts 😂 I hope we get more of the Diamond Collection but they need to pick a gear set that was actually worn IMO. Regardless of accuracy, which of the 6 is Diamond worthy?

I wonder what happened to the mini figs they mentioned, as a means to get everyone out? I don't know if more than a handful of these names would work as microbrawlers or not.

With the Ultras Series 2 preorders going on now, I think it is time to give a fresh look at who we can see in Series 3. Hopefully that announcement is not as far off as it was between Series 1 and 2. I have a whole free day, so here is my deep dive into who we can see.
Series one had this lineup:
Lou Thesz Verne Gagne Stan Hanson Ted Dibiase Bruiser Brody Magnum TA Kerry Von Erich
Series two has this lineup:
Dory Funk Jr. Jack Briscoe Wahoo McDaniel Junkyard Dog Kamala Medusa
I listed each of these chronologically based on my perceived highlights and mainstream attention. This can be argued, but I am kind of basing it on my thoughts, mostly steered by their biggest title wins. The first series has highlights from the 40’s, 50’s, 70’s and 80’s. It is also notable that they had a change from Ted Dibiase to Bruiser Brody (who was originally in Series 2). That Dibiase was to be a tag team counterpart to Stan Hanson. Instead Brody was there, with the same tag title. Series 2 has their wrestlers from the 70’s and 80’s, except Madusa with a late 90’s look. Based on the titles coming with them, and the design of Kamala and JYD being from before their WWF runs, with the exception of Madusa, these are from 1969-1983ish. So a much shorter timespan from Series 1. I am wondering if the Lou Thesz/Verne Gagne were not as big of sellers as they had hoped, so maybe that changed future plans? I get it, but hope we do still get a few others from the very olden days. So I have a feeling that they are looking at mainly the 70s and 80s.
I am not sure if it is a factor, but both series had people who arguably made their mainstream popularity in WWF. Kerry Von Erich in the first series, and JYD, Kamala, and Madusa (as Alondra Blayze) in WWF. So I am going to guess we get one or two in most series that have been involved with WWF at some point.
Previous comments from Steve before the long gap of time for finding out Series 2, Steve had indicated that the second series would be ‘tag team heavy’ but that did not come to fruition. I am wondering if they are going to go in that direction for Series 3. If so, we have a few options to go in this next lineup. We know they have Rock & Roll Express, The Koloffs, The Rougeaus, the Vachons, and the rest of the Von Erich’s, all of which we could get tag teams from. We also have a wrestlers in Series.1 & 2 that were part of notable tag teams, so that could also help.
I also am looking at the list of wrestlers that were known to be signed that I have back on page 7, however I am also just realizing that all 6 of the Series 2 lineup was not on that list, so that opens up a lot more.
So here is who I think will be in the Ultra Series 3 lineup.
1. Gorgeous George with the AWA World Heavyweight Championship (Boston Version)
This will be the one and only pre-70’s figure. It is a big enough name to sell, and may be one of the last ones we see prior to the 70’s in this entire line. My fear is that the market for those are aged out. I personally was born in 71, so am currently 53 years old as I type this, and I barely remember the AWA heyday of the late 70s, early 80s, and the crossover appeal of figure collectors with old school wrestling fans is sadly an older generation who may not get into these. That is just my thought on it, and hopefully I am wrong, but if I recall the Verne Gagne and Lou Thesz figures were the slowest to sell out during the last round of availablility for Series 1 anywhere, which would help prove that point. Gorgeous George is one that could do it. I am guessing he would come with that belt as that is what he had when he faced Lou Thesz.
2. Jerry Briscoe with the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship
He is not on the known list, but neither was his brother Jack. It seems to me that maybe this was a tag team intended for Series 2, but got adjusted, so including him here would be a no-brainer, completes a tag team, and will have a definite younger look than what the kids remember him from in WWF and the Attitude Era. I Chos the NWA Jr Heavyweight belt to go with him as Jack has a singles title with him in Series 2, so this is a singles title from Series 3 for the other Briscoe.
3. David Von Erich with the NWA American Tag Team Championship
I think we are due for another Von Erich, and he has never been made in figure form. I chose the Tag Team Championship to go with him, and while not in this wave, I think they will do a Kevin Von Erich with a second NWA American Tag Team Championship. If they are doing longer term planning, I can see them having a Von Erich every other wave. And they will all end up as Diamond Editions.
4. Ivan Koloff with NWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Championship 5. Nikita Koloff with NWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Championship
I think it is time for a tag team in the same wave, and I debated between the Russians and the Rock & Roll Express. I think they will wait on the R&R since they were just done in Remco form. I also debated if they will have the World Heavyweight belt with Ivan, but I think they will opt to keep them with the tag titles
6. Mad Dog Vachon with AWA World Heavyweight Championship
Honestly, this is a throw a dart at the dartboard and guess choice, but it Is what it is. It is an AWA connection, and personally I would love this choice. Really this last spot could be anyone.
So we would end up with Gorgeous George representing the 40’s and 50’s. Mad Dog would be from the 60’s. Jerry Briscoe would be the 70’s, with the Koloffs and David Von Erich from the 80’s. I just hope we find out soon enough after the preorder is done, but we have not heard anything about Remco Series 2, or TNA Series 2 yet, so I don’t have my hopes up much.

Surprised there isn't a Von Erich in every wave.

Surprised there isn't a Von Erich in every wave. I expected that too. It seems like a homerun with the publicity of Iron Claw, I want all 5 brothers and Fritz. Reading Azraels post also got me thinking, I definitely didn't anticipate something like a late 90s Marisa in the line. It has zero appeal to me, because it likely won't go with anything else in the line, and it doesn't scale with Mattel's. So I just don't see the point. My top wants are still David Schultz, Andre would look amazing at this scale, The Von Erich Family, Freddie Blassie, and Abdullah.

My biggest wants out of this line are (Ultras scale)
David & Kevin Von Erich Rock N Roll Express Midnight Express & Cornette Abdullah Eddie Gilbert Missing Link Bockwinkel Dr Death Great Kabuki The Original Shiek
Can live without because these already have great Mattel figs
Arn & Tully Ric Flair Ole (if they can do the others)

I think either the koloffs or RnR express circa 1986 need to be in wave 3 the other add to wave 4
Perhaps they are holding out for a 4 horsemen 4 pack down the line.
Ive said it before but I think David Von Erich is a logical addition. A Von Erich per wave until family fulfilled would of been a good way to get them out & give extra incentive to complete the family

Ive said it before but I think David Von Erich is a logical addition. A Von Erich per wave until family fulfilled would of been a good way to get them out & give extra incentive to complete the family In a podcast a little while back, Steve Rosenthal at Powertown hinted that they are "going to do something special" for the Four Horsemen so I REALLY hope that they have Ole Anderson in the mix. A box set seems like it is what they would do - a one off thing like the Cardona/Myers 2-pack. I would have thought a Von Erich in every wave would be a no brainer too. David is the way to go, as he is one that has never had a figure before. Then Kevin, and then Fritz. I don't know if Michael & Chris would sell as wrestlers, but maybe as a 2-pack? Or a 3-pack if they really wanted to include Lance. I tend to look for patterns, and between wave 1 and 2 there really isn't much of one. If they got into a pattern of like a female, a tag team, maybe one from the 40s & 50s, then 2 others, then it would be more fun to guess.

is it wrong to be buying these just for the belts rather than the figures? LOL
I've got the Jack Brisco on order for the belt mainly, that red background for the Ten Pounds of Gold will look nice, but I'm not a massive Brisco fan, would love an NWA era Flair or Harley with the black leather NWA title, but the red is a deep cut
kudos for them making it, but I'm wondering if anyone else is more interested in the title belts than the figures themselves?
