I wonder if PowerTown helped kick Mattel to start looking st slightly older wrestling. I absolutely believe that. I feel like a lot of the larger toy companies generally tend to be reactionary with regards to seeing something that works and then trying to do their own version of that.

I wonder if PowerTown helped kick Mattel to start looking st slightly older wrestling. Definitely. They saw the money and relatively good reviews that Powertown received and decided that there was a market for them. And I don't necessarily think it was Mattel, I think it was WWE. I could see this being a sort of new plan for WWE to get more classic wrestlers signed to some sort of merchandise deal. Especially if the first set of the Mattel Territorial Legends is a huge sell out. If anything, I hope it makes Powertown ensure that their classic Ultra line is their torch bearer line for them. I am happy for the Remco and the TNA fans, but I think the Ultras are going to be their gold standard.

I dont know, so thats why I'm asking. Seems more to me that it's been something Mattel has been paying attention to and eventually pitched to WWE...something like "We have access to a lot of these classic wrestlers already, why not do something where we give them comparable branding, put nice shiny belts on them and put them in deluxe packaging".

The relaunch of the Retros line was seen by many as a reaction to the success of Zombie/Chella etc.

It has come up a few times in recent years where former talent go to sign with WWE and they have to disclose other existing contracts. It is probably happening more and more with the wide range of names that have been signed in the past 4 years. So I could see it being a new wrinkle in the way they have been doing things but I doubt it is much of a second thought for any of the people on WWE’s side making decisions.

I also wonder if it's a result of all the moving and shaking going on in WWE?

Well, if we take Steve from Mattel at his word, they are always suggesting wrestlers to WWE but the ball is always in WWE's court to sign them. Maybe Mattel pointed out the success of Powertown to WWE and that caused them to change their stance a bit, plus at the same time they have a new process due to the formation of TKO as their corporate entity. Either way, I definitely think Powertown had some sort of influence. Along with the other smaller companies. I think we will see more evidence over the next year or two - if we start to see more older legends in the WWE line, then they are on an increase, but this could be a blip. That new 4-pack that they just announced had all previously released wrestlers, so none of them are new to the Mattel line - just in different forms.

Just had a chance to listen to 3POA’s interview with Magnum TA. I was pleasantly surprised by just how sharp and informed he is. Rarely do we hear from people of his era who are so dialed into today’s society- especially someone from the wrestling business.

I am hoping with Wrestlemania being this weekend that we would get some news or information from Powertown. Seems like it has gotten quiet again.

I also got my shipping notification for KVE. I am pleasantly surprised because given PowerTown's history, would not have been shocked if it was delayed (no offense).

Not only do I just love this figure and all of its details, I love the special touch that they added the "Fragile, handle with care" sticker to the box. All companies should take notice!
