Hoped Lumis would've been given a go on the main roster... He got that gimmick/character over without uttering a word. I don't think anyone who is a fan of pro wrestling should be upset when a pro wrestler is let go from WWE. They should be happy. They can go wrestle and do what they love now. WWE can keep their models and actors. Ah, this old chestnut... Newsflash... every "pro-wrestler" is an actor. That's why they have stage names and hold an equity card. "Pro-wrestling" is itself a form of acting - performers/entertainers, portraying a character while acting out scripted storylines and choreographed matches. Ah, this old retort. If you can't see the difference between the two products then I can't help you.

You ask 50 people on the street who is the biggest professional wrestling company in the world and we all know who all 50 of those people are gonna say. It’s literally the stupidest mark argument of all time.

It’s literally the stupidest mark argument of all time. Is it then stupid for that same company to do everything possible to remove itself from having that sort of brand dominance and invent some clumsy term that creates an illusion of genre-crossing sophistication? Stupid smark response. You know how many companies do company specific branding? It’s just a tired argument at this point.

Ugh, I know that type of branding is a huge thing in sooooo many industries, and it always comes across as insanely cringe to me. Clearly it works or companies wouldn't be doing it, but man, it just comes across as so tacky and cringy. I'm trying to think of which industry is the worst for it and I can't, but I'm almost certain the answer is in touristy things.

We should definitely argue about the proper terminology for a form of entertainment that can trace certain roots back to carnival sideshows, conning the normals for an easy buck. It's a really important distinction that is definitely worth getting worked up over.

When I think about it Disney and ESPN always jump out to me as being particularly bad.

It’s all made up nonsense. The funny thing is the type of fans that argue a difference in pro wrestling and sports entertainment are the type of wrestling fans non wrestling fans make fun of. The ones that take something so damn goofy so serious.

there’s an argument to say it’s wrestling, there’s an argument to suggest it’s not wrestling.
both are valid in their own right, despite whatever invalidation efforts others may attempt.
is hardcore wrestling not wrestling? to some, it is not, as it betrays their definition and understanding of it. to others, they say there is a ring and moves and it’s predetermined, that is wrestling. both have reasoning.

Much like the idea of cringy corporate branding, your idea doesn't end with wrestling either. Movies: Filmed entirely behind a green screen? Certainly a crowd saying "that's not a movie anymore". Hockey: Playing the trap system "That's not hockey that's just exploiting the game". Tennis: Big server who needs to win in 3 shots or they can't hold up "That's not tennis, they just have a huge serve they can't actually play tennis". Etc, etc, etc. In any case you can make the argument both ways like you said.

One show has cowboys, a girl running around in jammies, a mobster and the son of a Hall of Fame wrestler.
Another show has a dark brooding goth stable, a guy running around in suits made from his grandma's bedsheets, a giant monster heel, and the son of a Hall of Fame wrestler.
Another show has space aliens, a dark brooding goth stable, a zombie, cowboys, a giant monster heel, rappers, and the son of a Hall of Fame wrestler.
Two entirely different companies, three entirely different shows, and it's all "sports entertainment"/pro wrestling.

One show can and often does put on 4-5 star matches on TV weekly ... for free.
Another show is all ... what is this "star system" you speak of? If you'll excuse me, our champion has to go stand in the ring and do nothing for 15 min.

If you'll excuse me, our champion has to go stand in the ring and do nothing for 15 min. And most of those star ratings are heavily subjective and overvalued because of one person's opinion, mainly because there's a clear personal bias in said one person's opinion in favor one of the two companies.

I can very well see Alexa Bliss being cut. WWE has always had that inferiority complex where when they think you’re getting too big for your britches, they knock you down a peg. They didn’t show one photo of her wedding but they showed Corey & Carmella’s plus she’s been very outspoken on Twitter about being ready and they have nothing for her. She barely wrestles anymore…I can see it happening.
I felt like in her recent TMZ interviews that she’s getting a bit of a big head too. She’ll in in Hollywood or something next. She’s got far too many connections now to stay in the “wrasslin” business.
