When it comes to tv series, movie sagas etc retcons are usually a common occurrence, but they have also happened in wrestling throughout the years. Here are a few throughout the years.
Edge & Christian debut as brothers, but in 2005 they were simply refereed to as former best friends.
When Rey Mysterio debut in WWE his entire unmasked run in WCW was completely wiped from existence.
Kane was supposedly burned to a crisp and was proven to have long hair each time he was unmasked. but after his actual unmasking his hair was a wig and his scars were mental.
Evolution turned on Randy Orton because HHH was jealous of his sudden rise to stardom, but in 2009 it was because Orton had become an arrogant jerk who needed taught a lesson by the secretly heroic Evolution.
When X Pac and Big Show rejoined the nWo in 2002 their previous time in the group as Syxx & The Giant was never mentioned.
When Sting debut in WWE, he supposedly remained in the shadows since the fall of WCW despite being in TNA for nearly a decade.
After Undertaker returned as the Deadman in 2004 his entire era as the biker was not mentioned or refereed to at all.
When Matt Bloom returned as Tensai he was treated as a newcomer, but fans hadn't forgot his former alter ego Prince Albert.
Anyone else think of any?

Im confused nowadays if WWE is storyline saying that Dominik is Rey's son or isnt. I feel like thats flip flopped about 20 times since 2005.
I didn't mind the thing with Kane being mental as opposed to physical. Everything they did with him after that with Shane was the real crime.
Vince's limo blowing up and then the payoff being McMahon revealing he's alive to hold a memorial for Benoit, only for the next night to mention would never be spoken of again is a pretty big retcon IMO.
Wasn't the Giant billed as Andre's son early on in WCW?

When HHH/Taker were feuding into WM27 there was no mention of em facing off at WM17... this was weird af at the time tbh but the night after WM27 HHH ended up mentioning it finally lol.
You’d expect Taker to say “I’ve beaten you at Mania already” or HHH to say “I’ve failed once but this time I’ll get you” etc.

He's billed as Rey's son but other wrestlers have made jokes about Eddie being his father.

Wasn't the Giant billed as Andre's son early on in WCW? Yep. For every brief second. They even had him wear the shirt that (supposedly) Andre wore in The Princess Bride.

Beth Phoenix originally debuted as someone who had a history sign Mickie James but she got hurt and by the time she came back Mickie had changed gimmicks and they dropped it. Supposedly, Vince isn’t a fan of Biker Taker

And the fire destroyed his ability to talk, so he could only talk with a voice box device.

They couldve told how HHH gets another chance to end the streak 10 years after WMX7 and dominating the decade during that time.

Im confused nowadays if WWE is storyline saying that Dominik is Rey's son or isnt. I feel like thats flip flopped about 20 times since 2005. Dominik is Rey’s son. Rey and Eddie were best friends. That’s the current continuity. The history with Eddie fathering Dominik, Rey and Eddie being enemies, the custody battle etc is just sort of forgotten or used as an in-joke. WWE does the same thing with HHH vs Kevin Nash. Their 2003 feud was ignored in their 2011 feud (which just played on their real-life friendship), and they’ve always been presented as friends ever since, apart from the WrestleMania 31 DX vs NWO brawl.

That should've been a huge part of their feud in 2011. Nash could've blamed HHH for his second run failing. As the years passed by his anger grew and once HHH became COO he finally exploded and came back for revenge.

Naomi and Cameron split up and feuded and Cameron remained a heel until her release, yet she appeared at the Royal Rumble as a face who got attacked by Sonya Deville as a way to get at Naomi as Cameron was supposedly her longtime friend.

Rev D'von was kinda another retcon. After months of playing a patronising heel he reunited with Bubba at SS 2002 and his Rec gimmick was forgotten.

After Undertaker returned as the Deadman in 2004 his entire era as the biker was not mentioned Thank God for that. Biker Taker was a -17.5 on a 1 to 10 scale and ruined the character entirely for me. I've disliked the undertaker every since. The Edge and Christian thing has bothered me since I first heard the "good friends" thing. It all feels much worse when you realize wwe is the type to hold onto something even when it clearly doesn't make sense. They allowed Nikki and brie to do twin magic even after Nikki had the boob job and they didn't pass for each other anymore.
