[RETRO] Ring Masters by Rush Collectibles

Anything non wrestling I'd be leaving on card so if he pumps out more monsters I'd potentially be game.

I was just reading about Larry Zybyzko -- and then was left wondering whatever happened to that figure -- and Rush...

Has he been heard from since?

The good:

The artwork of Larry was really well done. That to me is a very good example of finding a new way to pay tribute to something.



Packaging was sturdy and similar or the same as Grappler’s and Gimmicks.


The pose of the figure is good and actually appears to be Hasbro-like.


The Bad:

The package came with slight damage to the card:


Larry has trouble standing sometimes.

The figure looks blurry in person…maybe not as much as some of the photos but there is something about the lack of shading or something in the face that feels like it lacks definition. The skin tone is absolutely too light.



There are random paint spots that are in a few places. Usually not too big of a deal but this really sticks out on a very plain figure. Larry has one on his crotch, his back, and his nose (didn’t Khia do a song about that?). The chest hair actually look like scars. Also, the paint job on his head hair needs work.

Scale-wise it’s a bit taller than most Hasbros and retro style figures.





Last but not least: this figure is fragile. The left seam did not look great right out of the package.


I started moving the figure around similarly to what Matt Cardona did and it became clear to me that any more pressure would have resulted in this thing falling apart in my hands. I know that these will primarily be set on a shelf and posed but none of the testing I did was out of the ordinary for anyone who wants to pose and display a figure. It was a simple articulation check that ended with the figure’s left side splitting apart and feeling like the rest of it could break at any moment. I hate saying all of that…hopefully this is a major lesson learned.

Sal claims they are good and that there was some kind of misunderstanding but I honestly don’t even remember what the reason/excuse was.

I have my doubts about the monster thing moving forward. He had that preorder back on October 28, 2023 for Frankenstein. The last time he has really mentioned anything to do with that line was January 1, 2024.
