According to Bret in January 1992 he was ready to give notice and bolt to WCW. However, he didn't do things on time and his contract rolled over for 3 years and he stayed put. What do you think Bret in Turner Land would have been like at this time?

A solid hand in the US Title ranks for sure. I can see him facing Vader for the World Title at some point but in the end failing to win it ala Bulldog

I think career wise staying ended up being the best thing in the world for him. As Brain said I could see him in the US/TV title hunts. I'm not sure that they'd see him as a main eventer though. He'd be a solid hand in the mid-card for '92-until Hogan's arrival. Maybe at that point they give Neidhart a call and reform the Foundation or he jumps back to the WWF around 1995.

I'm binging WCW '92 at the moment, and Bret would've fit in perfectly. Working Rude, Austin, Vader etc.
It would've been *chef's kiss*

Isn't that the reason why Bret lost the IC Title to The Mountie at a house show?? I believe I heard or read years ago that he did that because he was set on leaving to go to WCW. Then he stayed with the WWF and got the IC Title win back at Wrestlemania over Piper.

The thing that stopped em in the end was the whole contract roll over stuff. As awesome as matches with Rude,Stunning Steve and Vader wouldve been, I'm glad he stayed with the WWF in the end.

Though he would have had some great matches, I don't know if he would have been given the chance to be world champion - he would have made a great US champion. And with Hogan coming in, he definitely wouldn't have been given the chance. Staying in the WWF was the best option for Bret. I think Bret commented on this. With the WWF contract rolling over and him not being able to start in WCW until September of 1992, and WCW not seeming that interested and not offering him more than what he was making in the WWF, Bret decided to stay.

looking back it would have been a bad career choice. Would it have had high spots? yes...no doubt as listed above but not like his WWF tenure.
