This may sound goofy, but just let the dude go if he is that unhappy. I know he is a huge draw, but if he won't even work to his level, why bother. We ask the same of the E when they do the same.

He apparently showed up to the arena, last minute, went to the ring, got squashed and then left the building

I haven't seen a wrestler live his heel gimmick so much since Gino Hernandez. More power to him for doing that. Maybe there's something going on in his private life that he's dealing with. It's none of my business what it is. I just wish him the best of luck & continued success in everything he does.

IMO Max will be another Dean Douglas or Matt Striker in WWE, they just don’t have an interest in that type of wrestling outside of the acquisition itself. If he’s off TV for the next 2 years sitting out, that’s up there with the dumbest decisions a wrestler can make.
He’s taking the pen out of his hands to write his own check because now WWE knows, AEW doesn’t want you, so we’ll give you less now. Dumb dumb dumb, you want companies wrestling to have you, not seeking salvation. Plus he’ll be removed from tv for almost 2 years if he sits out the remainder of his contract. That’s gonna backfire

Any disappointment I had in MJF possibly leaving was turned into joy when Rush showed up, so whatever happens I'mma be alright.

Latest buzz was that there was no plane ticket for him.

they’ll team him with miz, we’ll get some brutally cringe material out of their schtick together, they’ll feud starting off with a Royal rumble elimination on each other, we’ll think we’re getting it at wrestlemania, it will get dropped off the card, a few months later they’ll be buddies again with zero explanation.
prove me wrong, wwe. I’ll happily admit it if they use him properly.

I feel like this power play would’ve gone much farther if there weren’t two years left on his contract.

I wonder what MJF is like in the locker room. Does he pull the total kayfabe gimmick or does he shake everyone's hand a bunch of times? I truly wonder. I think he's a worker and this is a work but Tony is the biggest worker/carny there is right now. All he is about is showing up Vince and Bischoff. If it takes disappointing some fans, so be it. I would have no doubt they saw the Sasha/Naomi situation and trying to do a "one up."
I love seeing a bunch of things Tony's done the last few years with guys who were jaded about WWE or legends cast aside by WWE but I'm to a point where I think he doesn't care so much about the legends. I think Martha Hart and the family got taken by this guy. It's not about Owen's legacy it's about having something Vince would never be able to have. For a guy who seems to dislike Vince and what he's done to wrestling, he's very similar. Vince is all about having what he can't have and Tony is all about having what Vince can't-whether it's Punk or Bryan or Martha Hart he has the money to have them and is able to convince them he's the anti-Vince.

If I went from working a program with my childhood idol, and a GOAT in Punk, to an angle where I had to not only lose, but practically carry someone as "mid" as Wardlow, I'd want to leave too. Seriously though, MJF grew up a WWE fan, he didn't grow up dreaming of working for a second-rate alternative. Also, he most likely watched Cody rock up in front of 70,000 odd fans, on the biggest stage there is, and thought "I want some of that". Also, don't forget he's seen his aforementioned idol, successfully pull off the walking out stunt, eight years previously.

We're likely never going to know what actually happened, since MJF blurs the lines more than anybody these days. That said, it sounds like he's been spotted out in Cali for dynamite. Rumours are he and TK had a meeting yesterday to try and make amends and sort things out/renegotiate etc, but again. We have no idea what's fact or fiction and never will.
Ultimately, he's a great wrestler, and I hope he's happy with whatever decision he makes. But I have zero interest in watching a 2 year story of "Will I leave in 2024". Two months? Sure, that's fine, but it'll get boring in a hurry if it drags out forever.

I'm gonna guess he and TK either worked out a deal within the last couple of days, or already had one in place and he missed the meet and greet for a totally different reason like Joe and they just took the opportunity and ran with it. Either way tonight is gonna be a big segment with him.
Yeah he'd probably make more money in WWE, but depends what the end goal is. If your end goal is to be the best chef you don't go work at Burger King.
