Last night I picked up two different things. One being The Crow: Reflections box set and the other being Hellraiser Series 3 Pinhead. Below are my reviews
NOTE: I did not take these picture. But I do not have a digital camera or a scanner. I got them just so you could see them
The Crow is one of my all time favorite movies. So when I found this, I had to have it. The packaging is really nice but I'm not a Moc Collector.
The set contains two figures and a vanity to commemorate Eric's transformation into The Crow. One figure is to be placed on the front side of the vanity (the makeupless Eric) and the other on the opposite side. It's kind of a "reflection" of things to come as if Eric is staring into the mirror seeing a side of things to come.
The figures themselves are very detailed. They naturally share some of the same parts (the legs, the head, the boots) and are highly detailed. The Brandon Lee Head sculpt is really nice and the paint job on both figures is excellent. On the Eric Draven (no makeup) figure, bullet holes are sculpted into his back which was a definite must on this figure. The Eric (with makeup) is very well done and 10 steps ahead of the one created by McFarlane a few years back. It has a hold on his shoulder to mounth the Crow included (also very detailed) and it sculpted very well. The trench coat looks like it's caught a draft of air and is stretched out to the sides which is an awesome added effect. The Vanity is a really nice added touch. It is much more detailed then I ever thought it was going to be. It looks identical to the way it did in the film. On the vanity there are many candles as well as makeup and lip stick containers. They containers even have logos on them! Very nice added touch. It should also be noted that the items on the vanity are glued on so as you don't have to worry about losing them. The set also includes the mime mask that can be seen hanging on the vanity in the film. It is removable from the vanity. Nice touch.
Each figure also comes with a stand for easy displaying
All in all a very nice set for fans of the film. Neca is really on top of their game when it comes to these boxed sets. I have the Freddy vs. Jason and the Halloween box sets and this is a very nice addition to my collection. Especially since it's my favorite movie of all time. For some reason, I think that the cat Gabriel would have been a nice addition as well as a little plate with "The Crow" logo on it as was included with the Freddy vs. Jason and Halloween sets. But that's no big deal. This set was an awesome idea and came across very well. 10 out of 10
So with more Neca stuff...here is my next review...
Ever since McFarlane started making the Movie Maniacs figures...I have wanted a Pinhead. But with McFarlane...it never came. When I heard the Neca was going to make the figures I got really excited. I only wanted Pinhead. None of the others were important to me. Naturally, Pinhead was the one that was VERY hard to find (at least around here it was). So Series 1 and 2 came and went and I had zero luck. But I finally got my pinhead last night. It is from Hellraiser Series 3. This series is from the film Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth. Not my favorite movie of the bunch...but I just wanted a Pinhead. The packaging is typical action figure packaging. Cardboard backing with plastic cover. Nice design to it but like mentioned above, I'm not a MOC collector so it's not important to me
Like all figures from Neca, this one is sculpted very well. If you look closely at the head, you can tell that it's put together in segments. Looks very hard to do but they did it nicely. The pins look really wicked. The figure itself had Pinhead with his head tilted with a wicked expression on his face. His arms are stretched to the side (but can be moved up and down as well as forward. He has spikes through his hands which are really nast looking. He has some torture tools around his waste which are attached by a rope that looks to be running through his skin. The overall paint job and design are top notch. No real accessories come with the figure other than a piece of something that can be connected with pieces that come with other figures in the set. I just set my figure on top of it because I don't plan on getting any other figs from the bunch. This is a nice figure but from pics I've seen Series 1 and 2 Pinheads are better. They come with the Puzzle Box for Pinhead to hold and this one does. I wish it did as that would be a nice addition. But like I said, this one suits me fine. 8 out of 10
