I just need to vent guys, I need an outlet and you are it! haha
I am one who really doesn't care much for changes. I am not cheap for the most part but I am certainly not rich. We moved into our house June of 99. At the time our Kitchen Stove was well... kinda not old. I mean it was from 1984 so around 14 years old. The Fridge was 1992 so 7 years old, kinda new. All these years everything was fine. Well again with the "kinda" word. The oven part of the stove had to be manually lit because the igniter didn't work. And the Fridge was a bit on the loud side. Fast forward to recent weeks... my wife was cleaning the stove and screwed up something. We had a guy take a look and he had to replace a bunch of parts. It would have been expensive and for a 1984 stove it was not worth it. So we looked and found a great deal on a really nice stainless steel Samsung with Air Fryer and WIFI built in. It was not much more than the cheaper ones so we went for it. When they came to install it of course the old gas pipe fittings didn't match so we had to have someone fix that. In the meantime our toaster broke so we had to get a new one of those as well.
Another week goes by and our Fridge started getting very loud. It sounded like it was ready to kick the bucket at any time. We waited and it got back to the normal sound but then got loud again. We said screw it and bought a nice stainless steel LG refrigerator, nothing fancy as we can't fit anything too large through our doors. Today was that day and when they delivered it, it got banged up pretty bad on each side. Front is perfect though. They called it in and they said usually they will give 10 percent or a replacement. You can't notice the sides because it's in sort of a cubbyhole but if you look you can see it and with my OCD I see it and know it's there. I told the guy there is no way I will take just 10 percent back with all of those dents and scratches on the sides. So before I signed the delivery paper I had him call his boss and note all of that. He even took pictures to send to the store (Lowes). I am going there tomorrow to let them know again and show them my pics. Also the new Fridge doesn't have an ice maker (I did not want one either, they take up too much room inside) but the old one did (of course it didn't work, hasn't for many years). I had the valve in the basement that went to the ice maker off but for some reason when he disconnected it, it started throwing water everywhere. He did something with tightening the bolts from the thing that went into the back of the old Fridge. But now I have this thing on top of my new fridge connected to that water line and I have to get a plumber to fix the fitting in the basement. Ugh. Why can't anything just go smoothly? This is exactly why I hate change. I am a "leave well enough alone" kind of guy. My wife on the other hand would change everything if she has all the say and enough money. So now I sit around paranoid that the ugly thing the guy tightened sitting on top of the new fridge will leak. I do have it in sitting in a cup just in case. Not sure how quickly a plumber can come and how much it will cost me though.
Well thanks for reading, we'll see what Lowes has to say tomorrow I guess. I'll report back and let you know if anyone cares!
EDIT: OMG you are not going to believe this... I am down here on the computer and my wife put clothes in the washer which is in the back room down here. Usually I hear it a little bit but this time it was very loud and screechy. It's a Maytag, one of those new style ones without the agitator in the middle, It's probably like 7 years old or so. But anyway I tried to stop and start it then it would not start running again. I powered it off and started it all over again and it made this extremely loud screech/crunch sound. So here we go again. Ugh I cannot take much more.
EDIT #2: I pulled the power cord to the washer and waited a few seconds and now it seems to be fine. I remembered a while back the thing just completely stopped working and I had to do that to reset it. So I figured I'd try it for this. This is what happens when everything has a CPU in it. Damn Skynet.
