So, what are your favourite Royal Rumbles between 1988 and 1999? I have chosen these years as they are the only Royal Rumbles that I have seen lol. I am talking about the Rumble specifically, not the PPV as a whole.
My picks:
1990 - The crowd reaction when Jake's music started playing was awesome and DiBiase put on a good show. Also, it was funny seeing Koko B. Ware and Marty Jannetty essentially eliminate themselves.
1991 - Nostalgia is the main reason this is here.
1992 - There are three main reasons this is my favourite and is likely to remain so forever. Firstly, it features many of my favourite characters - Jake Roberts, Ted DiBiase, The Berzerker, The British Bulldog, The Big Boss Man to name but a few. Secondly, it was the first Royal Rumble I ever saw. Lastly, Hulk Hogan didn't win.
1993 - I just remember this being fun to watch when I was a kid. I have no memory of Max Moon, though.

92 - Probably the best Rumble of all time. 94 - Really loved the story telling in this one and the ending was excellent. Diesel shooting on Virgil is also hilarious. 97 - It's kind of up and down but the Austin/Bret story puts this over some of the others. 99 - I had this on VHS as a kid and watched it over and over. I kinda dislike how much everyone took a back seat to the Austin thing but it's always a fun watch.

1991 This is my favourite Royal Rumble of all time! It is actually a top three PPV of all time for me as well. It is just so much fun. I had the VHS tapped of sky movies and I watched it so much the tape gave out. I was cheering so hard to for The Texas Tornado to win this.
1992 I remember going into this Royal Rumble not having a clue who would win, but I was pulling for Sid Justice. It's 30 years later and I'm still mad as hell about what Hogan did!
1990Seeing Warrior and Hogan square off blew my 9 year old mind! I still think Jesse was right and Hogan knew exactly what he was doing when he charged in there with that big body of his. I also really liked how the first few guys that came out did so to their entrance music.
1997i really had to think about what Rumble would take the fourth spot! I thought that this was a fun Rumble. Austin was awesome and the way he sold when Bret Harts music hit is a really iconic Royal Rumble moment for me. The only thing that spils this one is the annoying as hell fan blowing a whistle throughout the show, it's more noticeable during HBK Vs Sid, but it drives me nuts
I am giving an honourable mention to 1996 and if we were to do this again next week I could possibly change 1997 for 1996.
Also, was there a worse participant than Randy Savage? I love Savage, but he eliminated himself in 92 and in 93 he pulled what is arguably the dumbest decision in Rumble history!

1989 - First Royal Rumble I ever seen as a kid, and it delivered!
1991 - The entire event was fun that year, with the drama of Savage, Warrior, Slaughter and Hogan all starting for Wrestlemania VII.
1992 - The most star studded Royal Rumble from that era with who was in it. Even the under card was fun to watch.
1995 - Bret Hart vs Diesel for the WWF Title and Shawn Michaels winning the Royal Rumble?! How could I not love this event?!

If we’re talking about every Rumble in history then I’ll say 01, 02, 04, 08.

If we’re talking about every Rumble in history then I’ll say 01, 02, 04, 08. Nope, title specifically says 88-99. Everyone always talks about 92 being the best. Personally I don’t get it. 1990 is easily the best one to me.

1992 - best royal rumble match, and the undercard was good as well. Loved that Piper won the IC title.
1990 - 2nd best royal rumble match - could be the best, but the Hogan ending ruined it for me. Not that he won, but that he had to do the Hulk-up stuff. RR92 finish was much better.
1991 - one of my favorite PPV's, rented this a lot. Rumble match was really good too, suffers from the Hogan finish. The Undercard was great, Rockers/Express was a tremendous match.
1994 - I really enjoyed this PPV, the matches were good, and the rumble match was good as well. The finish was strange, but unique.

But for real, I would have loved for him to enter the match, be one of the last 3 or 4, then have Warrior come down (running through refs and WWF officials) and run him out of the building. Would have been a lot more interesting to see.

What's the deal with the Savage hate??? Plus, shouldn't it be Bushwackers Luke or Warlord. Luke only lasted like 2.5 seconds. And Warlord in 1989 only lasted 1 second. Plus, Warlord always got eliminated by Hogan (except 1990, but they weren't in the match at the same time), you think he would have learned to stay away from him... But for real, yeah, I can't get over the 1993 one. They could have easily done the same finish but with a twist. He could have still hit the elbow, then tried to pick up Yokozuna to throw him out but couldn't because of the dead weight. Next, Savage gets on top of Yoko and starts punching him, Yoko then pushes him over the top from his back winning the rumble. Also, Savage wasn't the first person to make a pin, I believe that distinction goes to Earthquake in 1991.
