Since he has been getting sooo much hate in other threads... looking at you nibs92 and hbkjason... I figured we show him some love. What is your Mount Rushmore of matches for Randy Savage (covering his entire career)? My choices are: vs. Ultimate Warrior (WrestleMania 7) - I loved everything about this match (and feud). These two worked so well together, and this is still one of my most favorite matches in wrestling history. vs. Ricky Steamboat (WrestleMania 3) - A tremendous match that most people list as the first great match they saw. Possibly the first match to "Steal the Show" ever, definitely the first match to "Steal the Show" at WrestleMania. Like Warrior and Savage, these two had great chemistry together, this match is exceptional, the speed and pacing were tremendous. vs. Ric Flair (WrestleMania 8) - I go back and forth between this one and Bret/Piper as to which match was the best at WM8, both were great. Savage and Flair worked so well together, both in the WWF and WCW. Really great match here, I loved it, the addition of Mr. Perfect was fun as well. Plus, Gorilla and Heenan on the mic just added to it. vs. Ultimate Warrior (Summer Slam 1992) - Not as good as their WM7 match, but still great. These two works so well together, I really loved the buildup to the match as well. Adding Ric and Mr. Perfect was a great choice. Tough choices, 4th was a hard one, could have gone with one of his matches with Flair in WCW, or one of his matches with DDP in 1997. But these are mine, what are yours? |

vs Ultimate Warrior - WrestleMania VII - Story telling on another level.
vs Ricky Steamboat - WrestleMania III
vs DDP - Great American Bash ‘97 - Randy helped DDP become a made man.
vs Ric Flair - WrestleMania VIII - Finally a Randy win! Tremendous match where he wins the big one of the biggest stage once again.
This was tough and could’ve been 40 matches long.

vs Flair WM VIII- My 2 favs of all time. LOVED this feud
vs Steamboat WM III- A classic that will stand the test of time
vs Dibiase WM IV-So awesome to see em triumph here as champ. Screw Hogan for trying to steal his spotlight
vs DDP Havoc 97- All their matches together were fantastic but this one is my fav

Ooh Yeah One of the greatest of all time.....even if he is one of the worst Royal Rumble entrants of all time  Even as a heel, I loved Randy Savage. I think that his career is so great that we could probably get away with doing one of these for "trunks" Randy Savage, longtights Randy Savage and WCW Randy Savage! Randy Savage vs Ultimate Warrior: WrestleMania VII this is my favourite match and feud of all time. Absolute perfectio. There is not one thing I would change in this match from the entrances, Warrior with his foot on Savages chest to Randyb and Liz at the end. Randy Savage vs Hulk Hogan: WrestleMania V What a match and what a rivalry. I did not start watching until a few months after this, but I watched the Silver Vision VHS to death! Two absolute snowmen at the top of their game here. Randy Savage vs Ric Flair: WrestleMania VIII The whole rivalry here was amazing, even more so when you consider it all went down in a very short time. Both guys were so commuted they were able to get people fully invested. I love the way Savage was so aggressive in this match! Randy Savage vs Ultimate Warrior: SummerSlam 92 I may have mentioned 3 or 4 hundred times that I was actually at SummerSlam 92! While not as good as their match at WrextleMania, this is still an epic match. The build up for a face vs face match was excellent and the inclusion of Flair and Perfect added a lot of excitement to it. Usually when we do theses at least two of my picks are locked in and the others could change in a weekly basis. However, this one here I am 99 percent sure would always feature the same matches. |

It's a testament to Savage as a performer that, in most of the unanimous matches on his "Mount Rushmore," he was the loser of the match.

V Dale Wolfe V Reno Riggins V Iron Mike Sharpe V Tom Bennett I’m sure you’d agree MKSavage that Savage held his own in the above matches against superior opponents 😜 Seriously though my picks would be Ricky Steamboat WMIII - admittedly, I don’t know much of his work out with the WWF but I doubt I’m far wrong by saying it was his finest hour! Hulk Hogan WMV - similar to above has to be one of Hogan’s finest bouts. Probably one of the first Macho matches that I watched, so will always have a soft spot for it. Survivor Series 88 - loved this match and one of my favourite events. Flair WM8 - an excellent finish to the match and as much as I loved Flair, I got a real kick out of him out Flairing Flair with the handful of trunks at the finish. Savage was such an intense character and if the rumours are true about his planning every part of his matches, i wouldn’t be surprised. So meticulous in the ring. |
