Someone posted on Instagram (forgot the name) a Bret hart UE variant of the torso being molded skin tone instead of painted, just wondering if anyone is aware of this variant, is the molded skin tone torso a early run? late run? Is it easy to tell which it is when it’s moc? I really need to get my hands on one, any info would be great, thanks guys

That image was just a pre-production prototype. Often times they mould them in random colors to test how the mould comes out for QC.

Yes it was AlexWestCollects who posted it on Instagram. Well I think he said someone brought it to his attention. I have four UE Bret figures. (3 loose 1 MIB) And two of the loose ones have the flesh tone painted torso. And the third loose one and the MIB version have the flesh tone plastic. The easiest way to tell is look where the torsos come together and look into the upper torso. The painted torso’s will be black on the inside. The mold in flesh colored plastic will obviously be flesh colored. You can also tell because the painted version the flesh paint is darker/duller than the one molded in flesh colored plastic. Others were saying the easiest way was remove the shoulder and the panted ones should have black on the inside of the shoulder housing. Unfortunately when I looked inside mine both my painted torsos were flawlessly painted inside the shoulder housing. There was no black showing at all. Here’s one of mine that’s molded in the flesh tone plastic

Thankfully, mine is moulded in the flesh tone.

Why does it matter? Not being a smarta, but it seems it doesn’t matter either way.

I was confused with that unreleased prototype we saw that was floating around. Thanks for clarifying.

Why does it matter? Not being a smarta, but it seems it doesn’t matter either way. Because the molded skin tone one looks immensely better, the painted torso has a weird dark look to it that doesnt match the rest of the figure

I got three - all different:
1. Skin molded 2. Skin molded on front, skin painted on the back. 3. Skin painted.
Painted skin is such a pet hate of mine. I really hope the new Bret Ultimate is skin molded.

The worst part about painted torsos are when they come botched. So now, you have a figure that you can’t fix unless you mix a batch of paint and even then it’s difficult to match the same exact Mattel tones.

Get any scuffs on the flesh painted torsos and you gonna be spending some time trying to match skin tone. However, gett scuffs on flesh molded torsos, you just need to fix the black paint, which 90% of all black paint is the same. This should NEVER be an issue for the Ultimate line. EVER.

Why does it matter? Not being a smarta, but it seems it doesn’t matter either way. For me it really doesn’t matter because I just display them on shelves. And 99% of the time the skin tones match very well with the non painted skin tones on the figure. But for those who like to recreate moments with figure photography and post the photos the one’s with the painted flesh tones the parts with painted skin come out very bright while the arms and heads and legs are much duller with the camera flash. So the figures don’t look very good In those pics. Here’s a pic of the EG Angle so you can see how the flash dilutes the painted flash. But more importantly for those who play with their figures or open a figure and the torso has a scratch in it it’s much easier to match the paint of the attire than it is to cover a scratch in a painted flesh color. Or if the figure is molded in the skin tone and the attire gets a scratch in it and you don’t want to repaint it then with the torso being molded in a flesh tone you can say the attire is battle damaged.

Display him with the jacket. Problem solved. Kind of what makes the ultimate version so cool in the first place.

Oh ok, I get what they’re saying now. I was thinking something totally different. My son has an AEW figure that’s really bad off like that, but the Brett Hart I’ve kept the jacket on it. However, I just checked mine and it isn’t something anybody would really notice unless you’re looking for it and it’s still hard to make out, so it’s nothing to me.

Why does it matter? Not being a smarta, but it seems it doesn’t matter either way. For anyone that doesn’t pose their figures it’s a huge deal! Chipping is very easy and looks horrible, and someone also mentioned about the color of painted flesh tone, that’s a big deal too Anyone know where I can get one with a molded flesh tone? Or as I said a way I can tell from a moc one that maybe someone is selling on eBay or other sites, hopefully I can find one 🤞
