Toys R Us is returning as a part of all Macy's stores

This is a nothing burger. Its going to be a Macy's toy department with a TRU banner above it. They probably bought a licensing deal out of bankruptcy court for cheap and they plan on ordering a few extra toys for the holidays.

I know we all love and miss TRU but its a dead brand in terms of brick and mortar stores. They missed out on optimizing online sales and staying competitive with other retailers. No chance this results in a TRU exclusive. It's going to be a corner of Macy's full of junk that doesn't sell.

Yeah this is nothing new. Other than some marvel legends, there’s nothing of note.


The more we mention TRU, the more I miss it. So let’s stop lol.

This is also an opportunity for toymakers to get their product out there. The salespeople at these companies should be in contact with Macy's now that there are more doors open.

My Macy’s has had the TRU area since last year and it’s truly nothing special. Maybe if they are actually revamping it, it could be worthwhile. Right now it’s nothing special.

I live in Hudson County NJ. The Macy’s at our mall (Newport) has also had a TRU since Christmas and there’s an actual TRU store at the American Dream Mall. Neither are really much to talk about. Macy’s is like a condensed toy section from Target: the usual board games, Marvel Legends, LOL Dolls, Bluey, DC products. No wrestling.

The American Dream store cater’s to younger kids, like 10 and under. Also no wrestling (at least from what I’ve seen).

I find it surprising a country as large as the states with such a firm foot in commerce and the infrastructure they have can’t have a chain of dedicated toy shops like toys r us.

I mean game stop has (just about) managed to continue in a very digital heavy market place where both physical product can be bought online along with digital Downloads so a toy shop ran properly should also be able to exist

We have 2 over here in the uk, Americans deserve a chain too.

I don’t believe toy shops need to be a thing of the past. My kids (8,6 and 2) all can see toys online, on a phone or tablet or a YouTube video but it’s not the same to them as going to a toy shop and getting their little hands on the toys and actually holding something deciding if they want what’s in their left hand or right hand.

I believe kbs were the mall chain and toys r us generally stand alone shops and not in malls? That’s exactly what we have with entertainer in shopping centres (malls) and smyths on retail parks.

It’s such a shame for kids because every kid should be able to go to a big toy shop chain where it doesn’t matter what city they’re in - if they’re out of town visiting granny or whatever they know the lay out

Kids seem to be growing up quicker constantly rly and I’m a big believer in letting kids be kids - including all the good and bad and toy shops are a huge part of that! Getting them a treat for doing well / being good / learning something new, birthdays and Christmas shopping - even down to when you go but don’t buy anything and they have a tantrum. It’s all part of being a parent, being a kid

When it first opened. Maybe I missed it, maybe they got stocked after the fact. I just remeber feeling a bit underwhelmed.
