Hi guys, I’m probably going to get heat for this but I’ll just say it.
I’m feeling a bit of unease about the representation of NXT/NXT 2.0 in the elite and basic lines.
With so many fresh faces, the past few elite lineups have seemed mediocre and without many/ if any first time in the line figured, 96 being an exception.
Do you think we will see the green light soon on many 2.0 faces?
Also- basics seem to be in a continuing downward spiral. The Indi Hartwell looks nothing like her in basic 134.
I feel like in years past NXT had a much stronger presence in the line. Your thoughts?

We are just now getting attires from last years Summerslam and NXT 2.0 started a month later and since they’re all new people they need new parts and scans
We will probably see some tomorrow

There was bound to be a gap with the transition to NXT 2.0. Pretty much over night they pushed or released a lot of the talent that would have been next in line for figures, and started pushing young talent that had barely even been on tv prior.
That meant Mattel needed to get face scans and start designs from scratch. We'll be seeing plenty of reveals from NXT over the weekend, but it takes time for those figures to go through the design and production process.
As far as quality, that's an issue across the board. Basics have been pretty terrible for a while now, and it's pretty clear that they can't continue to deliver a quality product at that price point even with the changes they've made in recent years. But retailers like the lower price point figures. I don't see that spiral ending any time soon, unless retail loses interest.

Just wait till after comic con then voice your concerns. Nxt2.0 started in August and Mattel usually takes a year to get new faces out lol they’re coming

If I was Mattel I'd be staying away from NXT guys, too. They are laying off major players for the brand every few months and it seems no one is safe. Parker Bourdeux was touted as the next Brock Lesnar by many respected people in the company. He was on TV one week and fired the next. You can't invest time, money and energy into a lot of people on that brand because you simply don't know whose going to be there in a year, a month, or a week from now.
And I honestly do not see many stars coming out of this current bunch of NXT 2.0. I don't mean to get off topic and say what a lot of people are feeling but this version of NXT is lacking tons of appeal that NXT had previously. Besides Bron and a handful of other talent, I can't even think of many talent I'd be interested in buying. Its not a roster of Finn, Gargano, Undisputed Era, Riddle, Ciampa, etc. etc. anymore. Its a roster of a lot of very green and new talent that don't have much of a mass appeal.

NXT clogged the shelves last time and that was with known talent who were on the active roster. No way Mattel is putting out figures of NXT 2.0 when the show draws miniscule numbers. Not hating on the product or show, it's just business and wouldn't be wise to invest so much in something so little. Too niche.

Nxt 2.0 didn’t start until September so they needed time to make the new guys I think we will see 2.0 guys this week

It’s tough when your best case scenario is someone from 2.0 makes the main roster and immediately gets a name and gimmick change.

You’re probably going to see less as most of the talent aren’t proven stars and interest in the product under the new format has faded. I doubt they’re going to get the attention they used to.

Thanks for the feedback all. I suppose it makes sense. I’d buy every first time in the line they make! (Just so long as they are scans and not the bad sculpts we got with that Indi from 134)
I suppose I will just have to dream:(

I think a lot of the Bourdeux hype was coming from outside the company and honestly, solely based on vague physical resemblance to Brock. He has amateur credentials, but so what? Everyone new they hire is an accomplished college athlete. He certainly wasn't debuted with the fanfare of Bron or hell, even the Creed Brothers.
But the larger point has merit. It's a sink-or-swim developmental brand now, so a lot of guys have very uncertain futures. I think they'll absolutely make figures of the entrenched names -- Bron, Waller, Tony D, Carmelo, Toxic Attraction, Cora, Roxanne, Stratton -- but the lower and midcard talent is not going to get figures in the same way that we got Tye Dillinger or No Way Jose or Tegan Nox.

The Bourdeux example was one I cherry picked from a list. Mattel probably had plans for more figures of Dakota Kai, Malcolm Bivens, Dexter Lumis, Timothy Thatcher, Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch, Swerve Scott and a few others. The state of WWE is just one that seems like anyone in NXT isn't safe. All of these talent were on TV and then all of the sudden they were gone from the company. Its a big ask for a company like Mattel to fulfill a 6-9 month process to make figures of developmental talent when the WWE doesn't seem to have much of a hierarchy with that roster anymore.

Yeah, agreed. I think they probably scan people as a matter of course, and the heavy reuse of parts mitigates things somewhat, but this year has to have been tough on them in terms of planning out waves.

we need an NXT elite line that includes black/gold NXT, NXT 2.0, and NXT UK
there’s a lot of stars they could make if they did this and adding 1 top NXT star every 10 series or so just isn’t cutting it, plus it made us lose out on elites of Dexter Lumis, Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch, Isaiah Scott, TM-61, Toni Storm

I know Steve and Bill kill it to try to bring us new stuff constantly but... LA Knight Indi Hartwell- Elite or better face scan (the basic seems like a sculpt rather than a scan), could be wrong Kay Lee Ray (Alba Fyre) All seem overdue for figures and would be instant buys for me. That’s not even getting into the NXT 2.0 faces Really surprised too that we haven’t gotten Imperium at this point (now no longer a stable but still)

I think its safe to say that with what NXT actually is now, that it's likely they're not going to be made like before unless they're talent that's proven and they know won't be cut before the release of the figure itself.
