From nickstormreview on IG. Just saw a demo from Bill of the new hips. I thought it was more to add height for certain poses, but I love how the leg kicks up so high now!
I am a bit worried on how this addition might make figures more fragile. I think we've all had Elites that have snapped legs at the hip joint. I have had it happen many times over the years. Adding another bit of motion in that already fragile joint sort of makes me fear that we might see snapped legs more often. I guess a few other toys use this already and don't have a lot of problems from what I've heard.
Overall its a great addition that adds a big range of motion to UEs!

Wooo!!! Lets go! This is so awesome. Wish we had it a couple years ago but its better to have it then not at all, hopefully next year they add a ball to the waist like a Mafex figure or like the AEW figures that would be amazing.

nice improvement on the UE line. keeps getting better. i do agree with durability ... but like with everything else it may need to be moved into place gently. since this line is geared towards collectors or adults, a 10 yr old kid may have an issue with using "gently".

Oh, I love this. Hopefully this can even be implemented in some Elites for wrestlers who have a lot of kicks in their moveset - Xia and Nakamura stand out as obvious choices. And really anyone who does a superkick or even a big boot could benefit from it.

Since I only display figures standing up, I donβt really like having more articulation like the ab crunch or the butterfly joints. This? This is really cool. Great work Mattel team!

I expected this when Bill said there would be a new articulation added. If you collect higher end figures or Figuarts, you know how these work. Iβm not worried at all about this breaking, unless you snap it with excessive force. Really happy to see more improvements along the line. To an extent, I wish they would do away with the toe cut. Itβs so unnecessary and looks ugly.

You think we would ever get swivel on the ab section? Itβs odd how the UE cut is made, but doesnβt swivel.

I donβt think it removes the playability aspect. In fact, I think youβll have more fun. Itβll allow you to do really high kicks (think of Spider-Man swinging across) and super kicks. As long as you donβt yank the legs, youβll be fine. You pop them back into place to get regular motion.

This is really cool. I like that theyβre not afraid to continue improving the Ultimates. Itβs strange that theyβve basically kept Elites the exact same as they were in 2010 (aside from the arms), but theyβve implemented so many changes to the Ultimate line in only a few years. The Ultimates are easily their best product now IMO.

this seems good as long as its structurally sound and ppl aren't snapping their legs off the figures. Its really one of the only advantages basics had, with the T-crotch. Was the range of forward and backward leg movement.

I'm excited for these, but I just hope Mattel does them right as they can be easy to screw up. Some of the early figures in the GI Joe Classified Series had some pretty bad drop down hips.
The best part about this addition is, in theory, the retirement of ratchet joints in Ultimates. I can't stand those things. So much so that I'll avoid buying figures with them as more often than not I find them to be either too tight or too loose.

Iβd rather have swappable ball jointed waists than drop down hips, but if this forces them to retire those godawful ratchet joints, itβs all good.

I like that they move to Displacing hips on ultimates. Hopefully the elites would have it as well and not just the ultimate and the next move they need is make the ultimates torsos being Swappable

How about pinless double joint arms that can actually freaking move? The range of motion on almost all of this is piss poor
