I'd imagine so.  But it's entirely possible they have higher thresholds for international accounts.  That much higher?  Who knows.  Smyths has something like 100 stores, I believe.  So I wouldn't think that MOQ's would force them to stock multiple cases per store.  But either way, it seems like a recurring problem.

There's at least some parallel to Game Stop in the US.  It seems like they will get a few waves in, but in big quantities.  Then they inevitably get clearanced but it's a somewhat niche item with their audience.  Then they drop wrestling entirely for a while.  Then they get them back some time later...still ordering more than they sell at MSRP.  I'd have to think there's something on the back end that forces them that high, rather than their buyers just over order every single time.

All fantastic points guys and it really drives home how big of a market they have lost. It would be interesting to see how the line does going forward in sticking with online retailers. There is no way they are meeting the stock intake they had with Smyths.

In terms of stock I’d assume they order for uk along with their stores in ROI, Germany, Switzerland snd Austria. Then the stock goes to mainland Europe before then coming to the uk. I don’t imagine they’d do separate orders for eu and uk

Also potentially depending on the arrangement it might not be a huge amount of revenue lost - there’s a lot of figures in the entertainer and smyths price marked down which just do not move. Jazwares night have to take a hit in those when they don’t move.

This is the same with wwe though. Every figure eventually gets price marked down. People in the states were struggling to find Kama but we had loads down to £10 not moving.

Further proof of the decline in wrestling interest in the uk - clash at the castle tickets which have been on sale for a while have still not sold out.

Pretty sad to see this, I hope the independents will continue to stock them.

They might be a bit more of an audience now for the independents to stock these since Smyths and the Entertainer are two huge distribution channels that are no longer stocking them.

I think one of the issues was the gap between the US and us getting them in, sometimes you would wait several months and a lot of collectors now just don't have that patience.

It is sad to see for sure, but Jazwares hands are not clean in this, as pointed out the Chase situation from the start was ridiculous and not open to all markets. The exclusive UK Cody was a good counter balance however when hangman came out it was apparent Jazwares we’re gonna only provide repaints. I would look at what ringside would be getting as exclusives and be annoyed if I was Smyths or The Entertainer. It’s be repeated a million times that collectors who lived through the Jakks era of this stuff were not going to be as accepting now that there is a platform to speak out via social media. The huge distribution they have lost is going to be felt for a long time and as a start up company is awful news, this can also impact upon only products Jazwares make if it’s felt they are bad to do business with. They could have a 1000 online retailers and it won’t match what Smyths was bring in.

I contacted Smyths about it a few weeks ago, but they pretty much just said "lol we dunno".

TBH, until someone from Jazwares actually communicates something one way or another (or new listings suddenly appear on the Smyths site), I think it's pretty reasonable for us to assume the end is nigh!
