The "very quickly" part is the funniest part of the story to me. I mean they set the time,it could've been even quicker if they wanted it to be.

The way it’s written (which I assume is the direct quote) indicates that it started selling very well very quickly, IE beat whatever projections they might have had before the end of the week. That could obviously be PR spin, and the initial projections could have been purposely low.

They don't share it with *us* but I'm sure the numbers are regularly shared between WWE and Mattel. WWE is likely receiving a percentage of every figure, and those numbers are going to be subject to audit from either side to ensure the numbers are accurate. Plus I'm sure WWE's marketing/PR team would want to promote those numbers internally. It's the kind of "pat yourself on the back" stuff that happens in any big company, or for department heads and managers to try to look good to their bosses. It doesn't mean Steve went leaking to some dirt sheet. But there would be plenty of people internally who would have that kind of data, and would benefit from good news getting around. But like the other post mentioned - there's really no comparison, so it being the highest selling doesn't really mean anything. But it sure sounds good, and perception is reality in many corporations. Oh definitely, I'm glad it sold alot, paves way for more ultimates down the line for that category. I just don't trust fightful 😂 Fightful is the most reputable source along with PWInsider these days, not even opinion based, it’s objective. I think SRS is a ing nerd and I wanna beat him up for it but his crapis consistent.

I love Cody, but I am trying to understand the appeal of this figure, especially with the Supreme fig just hitting.
Was it a FOMO purchase?
Is it the historical value since Cody seems destined for a major run in WWE?
Is this flip or trade bait?
Please enlighten me! I am not trying to hate on the figure or anyone purchasing it. Really want to know! Thanks!

Really want to know! Thanks! Ive been a Cody fan since day 1 (as I was a Dusty & Dustin fan) Only time Ive ever gone out of my way to watch the indies was to see what Cody was doing. I was also at Mania this year so being a huge Cody fan & being at the event it was a must have. I just wish I would have gotten 2 cause now I kinda want one MOC as well.

I had always liked Indy/AEW Cody, although the latter part of his AEW certainly had interesting moments. The possibility of him going back to WWE as “AEW Cody” really interested me, and even to my surprise I was super into his comeback to WWE. Now it may not make total sense, being that for me price point is why I won’t be getting many Supreme figures, but with it being a special/exclusive release and my want for new Mattel Cody’s I was not going to pass this up. I even bought two. A big exception made for the price.

Hope this doesn’t mean even more price hikes now that they see what people are willing to pay.

Wouldn't be surprised if a lot it is people planning to resell anyway. We all know the New Gen arena has already seen a big price hike on the aftermarket and it isn't even with anyone yet.
Cody was much more affordable at $45 and people will probably easily get $100-150 for it by the time it hits.

From Fightful, “Cody Rhodes' Mattel Creations Ultimate Edition figure was also announced, and sold incredibly well, very quickly. We're told it was one of the highest pre-order totals since WWE and Mattel's relationship started” what is the anticipated release date for this?

Really want to know! Thanks! I personally think Jazzwares figures are pretty low quality and feel cheap so I had zero interest in the Supreme and quite frankly the moment Cody returned is way more iconic than any AEW look they could do and the presentation/packaging blows the Supreme out of the water. Plus soft goods > Hard rubber.

I’m sure lots of those were purchased with the intent to flip.
With the way Elites are anymore, I don’t need a $45 Cody Rhodes.

I have two on order. One to open for my shelves and one to keep MIB like I do with other wrestlers I really like.

I bought in. Really hope this news is true just because it will open the door for future releases like this that were so easy and pain free ( other than almost $50 shipped for 1 figure) Now, do this again around XMAS time with a 1997 Hart foundation Bret, all the soft goods and three heads! Give us a Bad Blood Shawn Micheals! You really want to see records set, then HBK is your man! The right match, a $45 budget, and a year to make it right... I see $ for mattel and joy for me!

Really want to know! Thanks! Brand loyalty. I buy mattel 99% of the time. IMO the Ultimate Cody looks so much better than the supreme! I give them props for trying to compete with Ultimates, but I feel mattel headscans are far superior to that of AEW. I still bought an Owen figure though. Hopefully, the head can fit on a mattel body!

Just think of the wrestling fans who start to collect figures in the next few months or years. This Cody will be one of the harder ultimates to find at a good price on the aftermarket. The supreme line is great. I haven’t gotten my Britt or Cody yet. But I’m interested in seeing how well mattel does Cody’s entrance coat since it’s going to be all cloth.

How many could they have sold if it was the mythical WrestleMania VIII Hulk Hogan?🤔
