I was thinking about this today. I remember in early 1990, the Four Horsemen of Arn, Ole, and Ric kicked Sting out of the group because he was taking a WCW Title match with Ric Flair at the Wrestle War 90 PPV. They said pretty much that Sting was a Horsemen and you don't go after the champion, so they told him to leave the group and not take the title match. They then of course, beat him up.
Fast forward to October of that same year. Sid Vicious, who is in the Four Horsemen, got a shot at Sting for the WCW World Title, and the Horsemen even went out to have Barry Windham disguise himself as Sting, so Sid could pin him to become WCW World Champion.
So what could the kayfabe reasoning be for the Horsemen to want and help Sid try to win the WCW World Title over Flair being champion, compared to earlier that year with Sting and Flair??
Was the hatred for Sting so much that it didn't matter what Horsemen defeated him for the WCW World Title??
Would Sid then hand over the WCW World Title to Flair??
Was Flair ready to take a backseat to the Horsemen and just worry about teaming with Double A??
All viable questions!

Sid was a Horseman and Sting was their main rival so they just wanted the title off Sting.

Like Vader,Sting had good chemistry with Sid. I enjoyed the stuff they did together especially during this era

Yep it was all just to get the title off Sting. Dont forget at the same time The Black Scorpion angle was going on too. Which originally was played by Al Perez but I have no belief that he was really the long term plan. So you essentially had Sid & "Flair" going after Sting at the same time. I think Sting wrestled a few house shows against Windham around the time as well.

It's actually kind of strange how much Barry looked like Sting too here at this event. I knew about it from reading the magazines as a kid, but I didn't actually get to see this event until I was like 24 or so, and even when watching it then it totally comes off as Sting and not Barry Windham.
