Nothing official yet, but it's becoming more and more likely Punk is gone. We'll likely get confirmation in anywhere from two minutes to two days.
The places I read this could definitely be wrong, anythings possible, but very unlikely to be wrong.
Bucks and Omega suspended is the other part of that I'm hearing. No timeline given, but I'll be crushed if they aren't back for Toronto. I gotta hope TK wouldn't do that for the first Canadian crowd that would destroy good will with a lot here given Kenny is Canadian

I’m trying to avoid anything from Meltzer or that other guy that’s a big AEW insider. I feel like their side might be a little jaded right now

Schmosby doesn't have the balls to cut Punk. CTE Punk will quit again before he's fired. That is what he does. He should be fired, and Kenny and the Bucks should be suspended and demoted, but what he really needs to do is to bring someone in to serve as decision maker. He needs Vince McMahon. Or the return of People Power! Or the guys who saved TNA, Hogan and Bischoff.
all joking aside he needs to do something. He is not equipped for this. AEW is sinking and I hate seeing this. They're killing our company while Schmosby plays the fiddle in the background. The only reason he suspended Hardy was because he absolutely had no other choice.
No matter what they need a proper decision maker with knowledge about what works for wrestling in the 2020s, like a modern day, non-out-of-touch Bill Watts. Someone who can book indie wrestling on TV, but can be firm and fair. Someone who isn't afraid of saying no to prima donnas. Maybe Regal? Maybe someone like Delirious? While we're at it, let's make Regal the on-screen authority figure please. I'm slightly panicking about AEW today. Cody clearly saw the writing on the wall. I love this damn company, and don't want to see Schmosby, CTE Punk, and the Delete tanking it. WWE is clearly on the upswing, but WWE still needs AEW to keep them honest. AEW can't implode, especially not this quickly into the new WWE regime. There's still SOOOOOOO much to be ecstatic about with AEW, but these ego play distractions have to stop, immediately.

I feel like their side might be a little jaded right now There are a couple guys on the Meltzer boards who have no connection to Meltzer or Alvarez that have broken a lot of things before (I knew about Dakota Kai before and reporters broke it from them). I wouldn't take Meltzer word for it in this situation but these guys are ridiculously accurate. Again, could totally be wrong but they've been right about a hell of a lot before anyone else

Waiting to see what Sapp says. If Punk is gone, getting to see my all time top two have their last wrestling matches live in the same year is pretty wild.

So I know that there are likely still a few people thinking it's all a work, and fair play, its wrestling no judgement.
But, for even those people, lets say its a shoot like the rest of us are thinking.
How much are we looking at CTE in Punk's behaviour? Doing all of this as a shoot, the way it happened, not exactly rational.
So, is it CTE, just pure hatred of Colt Cabana that boiled over into everything, general anger management issues, or a little bit of all 3?
I ask because the 1st one is a real concern for pro-wrestling as a whole, much like any other professional contact sport.

Hell yeah! Sounds like a great year Legit might be my favorite in wrestling based on shows I’ve attended and just how crazy backstage news has been.

Unreal year. I saw Austin wrestle twice, both when Owen Hart was still alive. I was like 8 years old the first time I saw them live (early '97), and I was still a kid who believed it was all real. I remember at the house show I went to in Vancouver where my aunt lived, we had upper deck seats, I took a look through the binoculars, saw Kane throw one strike at whoever he was fighting, and handed them back to my aunt and said "Yep, it's real" and just enjoyed the whole show as a kid in awe of everything. What a great time. I'm pretty sure Austin was either the main or co-main that night but I really can't remember anymore.

This is probably been my favorite year too. Most shows I’ve been to in a while, signings and getting to meet Taker was my #1 wrestling dream. Add the backstage stuff. Vince stuff. Cody jumping sides. This has been wild and it’s still the first week of September

I’m not sure it’s CTE or hate towards Cabana - Punks always been and always will be a pot stirrer. And this is from a HUGE fan of punk. I loved his early ROH days, was elated to see him in WWE and loved the Summer of Punk, then beyond happy to see him in AEW. But this is par for the course with what we’ve come to know about Punk. He THRIVES on the drama it seems and loves to speak whatever he feels needs to be said, right or wrong. He is unfiltered and I think that’s part of why people love him on screen as it’s part of his character - it’s just too bad it bleeds over into real life and rears it’s ugly head behind the scenes with coworkers. It’s just ironic how he’s proclaimed all these things over the years of being a voice for the voiceless, when it’s always been about Punk at the end of the day in my opinion. He’s as big of a politician backstage for himself I believe as Shawn in the 90s and Hunter in the 2000s. I love the character CM Punk and he’s captivated me with his career many, many times. But the man Philip Brooks just seems like a sorry POS scum bag who will walk on anyone and everyone to preserve his namesake and try to appear as the victim in every instance.

I only saw him wrestle at a house show against Mankind shortly after Wrestlemania 14. Hate I didn’t get to see him more, but the electricity in the arena that night was insane to be part of.

I think it’s more of Punk is one of those types that, whether he’s right or not, he’ll speak sternly and harshly and feel 100% correct and justified doing so. No matter the consequence He’s a much bigger star in his mind than he is in reality. And that’s my thoughts as a fan of Punk. For the most part All in all, I’d say it’s a mixture of personal drama, the experience not being what he hoped and Punk just being Punk.
