Again, I just have to say that MLB 08 Show is easily one of the best/most realistic sports games of all time for numerous reasons.
I am doing a franchise with the Yankees right now, and all of my statistics are realistic (team record, ERA, player stats, etc - I don't hit 30HR/month with AROD like in 2K7), and most importantly the scores of all of my games aren't ridiculous and tend to vary (6-2, 4-1, 12-11, 8-5, 4-2, etc).
I also think it is really cool that they have old school jersey days a few times each month.

So when I turned on my PS3 today to play some MLB 08 the Show the game said I had to install an update in order to continue. People on the IGN message board say that Sony created a "mandatory patch" that must be downloaded that will fix certain glitches in the game, but I played a few games and don't see anything different....even though I never saw any glitches any way except that ALL players wear long sleeves at night all year which HAS NOT been fixed.
Anybody have any idea on specific things that were effected by the patch other than now having the option to have your franchise NOT auto save?

Is this just different in rivalry mode or is this part of the update? Whn playing my franchise mode Ortiz and Manny have terible batting stances. I see the rivalry mode and wonder what it is, I choose it andIm playing as the yanks and ortiz comes up to bt, his stance is changed and is much better, same with ortiz. Is this part of the updat e or is this just in rivalry mode?

I have no idea....SONY is so ass backwards with every patch and update they put out, they fix one problem and cause a whole series of other problems. Some people on other boards have reported that after they downloaded the patch, now every player in their franchise wears high socks. The best that I can tell, this patch was put out to reduce ONLINE LAG, and fix certain players batting stances. The reason it probably only fixed your stances in RIVALRY mode is because changes probably do not apply to franchises already in progress....if you started again it would probably update....kind of like how roster updates can't be used on franchises already started. I wish one year there would be a game that didn't suck ass....oh wait.......MVP 2005. BEST GAME EVER.....seriously. |

Yeah....the patch pretty much RUINED my game.
Every single player in the GAME wears HIGH SOCKS and their left hands are big SMEARS accross the screen like they are carrying huge 2x4's. The game is ACTUALLY un-playable right now.
I wish there was a way to get rid of the patch.....it totally destroyed my game. I downloaded it because I thought it would MAKE THE GAME BETTER!
Even if the "patch" had worked it was pretty much only to improve ONLINE play and give certain players new batting stances....but for everyone else who plays OFFLINE in a franchise the patch is USELESS. And it ruined my game.

The game is ACTUALLY un-playable right now. I wish there was a way to get rid of the patch.....it totally destroyed my game. I downloaded it because I thought it would MAKE THE GAME BETTER! And it ruined my game. I had that sock problem a few weeks ago. I was playing in franchise mode and my team was wearing the throwback uniforms. The next game everybody was wearing high socks. I went to edit it and when I choose pants itdid nothing. I had to turn my system off and then it went away. |

I bought the Show about a month ago, I'm really enjoying it thus far. I haven't even started to play a dynasty yet, too busy playing Career mode.  |
