Because the arch was on risers in that picture. Yah that’s a good point I forgot about those risers.. but I watched a clip of undertaker walking thru the entrance without risers and he was about same height as the vertical green lights so height seems pretty close. Maybe it’s not exactly proportionate, but it seems it was wide enough to fit 2 people thru at once also.. I’m sure some of the bulkiness of it all has to do with fitting all the lights, etc.

The thing looks pretty darn spot on to me. But you can't please everybody. This has literally been a wishlist item for me since I was a little kid, and the product Mattel delivered completely exceeded my expectations.

This is a screenshoot I took of an episode of Superstars from late 94 I believe. i’m thinking they may indeed have had several versions of it. and if that screenshot is from late 94, there’s a solid possibility mattel used that version as reference. which would make a lot of sense considering the diesel, doink, and macho man figures are all from that timeframe

The New Gen entrance seems so big in person that I’m not optimistic about a proper scale entrance stage for any other era. It would be massive. Those old entrances are pretty big in person, but the stage isn’t wide enough or long enough. I think a nice middle ground would be an “Elite” version that is halfway between the basic scale of the mass retail entrance stages and the “Ultimate” scale of the New Gen entrance.
But I think too many people would raise a fuss if Mattel tried to crowdfund anything that wasn’t completely accurate in scale. Maybe a stage the size I’m thinking of would have to be limited to premium online retailers much like AEW’s scale rings seem to be.

Just to play devil's advocate, you could say the same about many of the Haslab items. Huge pieces that would be very difficult to display, and they consistently do very well. Obviously it's not apples to apples. But I don't think it's impossible. With the right design maybe they can do something that's segmented so you could display a partial or full stage. Either way, I think it's crowd funding or bust. You're talking about a huge outlay of cash for a specialty retailer to take this on. We haven't seen retailers like RSC dive into exclusive Ultimates (though I think we will), let alone high end pieces. You're talking about having a huge, huge amount of cash tied up, not to mention the warehouse space, in a business that probably relies on fast turnaround and regular cashflow. The crowd funding route gives the manufacturer assurances of hitting their profit targets if it meets it's goals, while taking on next to no risk if it flops. It's the perfect vehicle for these kind of big scale projects. Whether or not they all get funded? That remains to be seen.

Well, I meant something that would retail for around $100. The first two stages retailed for $50. I think a stage that was bigger than the older Mattel stages and smaller than accurately scaled could retail for $100. Maybe $80. Would enough people buy it? Well, the WCT WWE Authentic Scale Rings and Main Event rings sold through. But even the K-Mart exclusive Raw stage was probably produced in greater numbers than anything online exclusive.

So late 92/early 93.

The sheer amount of tech, parts and plastic to make the Nitro and Attitude Era stages Mattel made would surely be $300 at a minimum for the stage alone and thats a lowball price tag. A set like In Your House is practical because it can be moved around more. I myself am a stage designer and am moving towards more modular sets that can be used for photography and also display pieces
