So Hasbro Pulse just sent out the email with the silhouettes of series 1 of the returning Starting Lineup figures. Whats everyones guess on who they are? Who are you hoping to see in future lineups? I'm super excited for this line. I hope they go down the road of legends and do Dream Team figures. Preorders are 1 week away.

Pretty obvious we have Giannis and Ja here. Likely Embiid, and possibly Melo Ball?

I hope they go down the road of legends and do Dream Team figures. Same. I have zero interest in current guys.

No interest in basketball as I haven’t cared for it since Jordan and Pippin retired. But if they do the NFL and MLB I’ll be back into these.

$50 is crazy expensive for what they are. Definitely killed my excitement level on these.

$50 is crazy expensive for what they are. Definitely killed my excitement level on these. Totally agree. That's way too much. And to be honest I don't like how they did them. They look more like McFarlane figures than Starting Lineup. I was hoping to get at least 1 or 2, but $50 is just too much for those. I also forgot that Hasbro doesn't do plastic windows anymore, which is a total deal breaker for me for all Hasbro figures.

The lineup is
Lebron James Stephen Curry Giannis Antetokoumpo Ja Morant Trae Young Joel Embiid Luka Doncic Jayson Tatum
At $49.99 a pop, I guess this isnt a mass retail toyline so legends would be a logical addition if that's the case. I would want
Kevin Garnett Allen Iverson Yao Ming Reggie Miller Andrei Kirilenko

I don't get it. They were telling everyone SL is returning, but the reason we all collected SL was because they were $5 each and we could buy the whole league as kids. I thought this was going to be a line where I could get my kid some basketball figures he could play with at a reasonable price. Even at $25-30, I could have justified getting him a few and a hoop. But at $50 a pop, there is a zero percent chance I'm doing that.
As a collector, I was planning on buying the entire first wave. I figured this would be like Marvel Legends and I'd just put together a shelf of the bigger stars. At $50 each though, I'm willing to get Jimmy Butler, and that's really it for current stars. I would absolutely be more interested in Legends, but I think they'd be more expensive than $50 each the way they did this rollout with the NFTs. Even then, I have Mafex and Enterbay Jordan already, so it's not like I'm dying for an inferior figure from Hasbro.
This whole deal is such a bummer. They're not good enough to be higher end collectibles imo with cartoony likenesses and no tattoos, and they're not affordable enough to be for everyone, specifically kids. It just feels like they're selling a $20 figure for $50, which I think is the real issue with what they've done.

i saw these pop up in an email. and saw Curry...rofl.. very cartoony look, too bad because the old lineups were so collectible . i wouldve loved the 4 inch figure with more articulation . darn.
these almost remind of the failed McFarlane line. except with articulation. $50 is way too much. McFarlane barely survived at $20-$30 and then folded.

I still collect 1988 and 1989 NFL Starting Lineups and I know exactly what you're saying. Something about them was/is just really special, and the $5 price point was also something that made them great. Even if they weren't $50 they look nothing like the Starting Lineup figures I know. I expected something very similar to the old school ones, in vintage, but updated packaging, with modern articulation. That's my opinion anyway.

Oh originally, when we just had the announcement, that's exactly what I wanted and thought we were getting, too. Just a retro style line with modern names, and the door would be wide open to do Legends, specifically from that 2000-2021 period when it would have been a continuation of the line, of sorts. But when they showed the silhouette that's when I assumed they were doing Marvel Legends style figures, and I thought it was a way to appease both kids and collectors in one shot. Unfortunately, they did neither imo. I still collect the original line, too. I try to add at least one off my checklist every two weeks or so. They don't go for much of anything and I love having something that feels constantly ongoing since there are so many guys.

It would just be Raiders for me at $50 a pop. Well, if they do Legends as well I would probably buy Bradshaw and Lott (if 49ers and not Raiders)

I'd probably get my favorites (Bengals and Sabres) if they expanded to NFL and NHL, but that'd be it. Fifty apiece is nuts. Not sure what Hasbro's deal is anymore, but they're losing their minds or they know something I don't about action figure collecting.
I'd rather pick up a bunch of old SLUs or McFarlane figures than get one of these. I could throw in a little more and buy that Anthony Muñoz from the 80s I could never afford.

I could be way off base here, but I genuinely think companies saw the 2nd hand market explode during covid and thought "dayum, lemme get some of that money". craphas went up 20-25% at retail. That's a big amount.
