Don’t know if we have any fellow Kevin Smith fans here, as I know a lot of people have soured on his later work. Personally I love all his films, shows and podcasts. Well maybe outside Yoga Hoosiers. I attended the Clerks Convenient Tour in Detroit the other night though and during the Q&A he announced with Clerks 3 being his 15th film that he wants to shoot for 20 before calling it a day. His plans for the final five are as follows: Twilight Of The Mallrats Moose Jaws The 4:30 Movie Tusks The final Jay & Silent Bob movie. So obviously sequels for Mallrats/Tusk/Jay & Silent Bob which I am a big fan of. I know Tusk is pretty universally disliked but I loved it and it’s what introduced me to Smodcast. Apparently 4:30 is about kids in Jersey that spend all their time going to the movies one summer in like the 80s. Finally Moose Jaws is just Jaws with a moose. I may be alone but I’m very much looking for to them. So what are your thoughts I guess? Also I got to finally meet the man which was a bucket list item for me. His podcasts helped me a lot in a time when I was at bottom. So very ing cool to me.

My ex was obsessed with him. Like "get a restraining order" obsessed. Can't say I like his work. I heard him go into graphic detail about when he first met his wife. Stopped me from caring about him.

I find it interesting that certain directors like him or Tarantino have a set amount of movies they want to make before calling it a day. I find that fascinating and I think it builds good hype for the upcoming movies knowing you don't have that many left.
I am not the most familiar with his movies but I did really enjoy Jay & Silent Bob Reboot. I was having really bad panic and anxiety attacks during the pandemic and that movie really helped me forget about all that was going on in the outside world.

Love Clerks and Mallrats, like Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks II, and only thought Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was OK. Just watched Clerks III yesterday and overall really liked it. Got a little teary-eyed at points as well, but still not sure how I rank it among his movies I have seen. Haven't seen the rest and based on what I have heard about them, don't have any plans to check them out (of course, this could always change). For those wanting to get a general overview of a lot of his work, check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/View_AskewniverseEdit: Totally forgot about the main point of the topic haha I am excited about the Mallrats and Jay and Silent Bob sequels. The others I might check out depending upon what I hear about them once they come out.

I loved Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy but really didnt like Dogma and lost interest after that. Didnt know he was still directing actually lol...seems like for the last 15 years hes been primarily a talking head for various pop culture documentaries and programs.

Why does he still dress like he's a fat guy? Looks silly. I'm hit or miss on his movies. I think "Clerks" is overrated, but, I really like "Clerks 2". I haven't seen the third yet. "Mallrats" was really fun but have no high hopes for a part 2. "Tusk" is better the second time around but we don't need a sequel.
Ah well, he's directed 15 more movies than I have. What do I know?

He is my favorite director of all time, and I will definitely be waiting for them, exceot Tusk. I still remember being enamored by the Mallrats cover as a kid in the mid 90s and then finally getting to see the greatness that is. When Kev does comedy, he doesn't fail in my book. Then again, Jersey Girl (I liked it but that was the running gag for so long).
Snootch to the Nootch!
VPV
Edit: I forgot I had thought of something. Kev likes horror-esque and Jay and Bob will get elderly. Give me Bubba Hotep 2 with Jay and Bob please

I think he's been talking about doing Moose Jaws for a decade at this point. I'll believe it when I see it.
Totally on-board for a Tusk sequel though. Don't really know if another Jay & Bob is needed.

Don't really know if another Jay & Bob is needed. According to him he wants to wait till Mewes daughter is old enough to play his daughters kid. So Jays granddaughter will be played by his real life daughter.

Clerks cartoon is his best work Just recently rewatched and it holds up so well. I don’t care what anyone says, not only do I think it should be brought back, I consider it canon.

I think he gets a lot of hate that isn't really valid. I think personally I noticed a ton of it from various Criterion collectors who though Chasing Amy wasn't "worthy" of being included. I liked Kevin Smith as a writer and he did improve as a director, because a lot of his early work hardly has any camera movement/work but sometimes it's more about what's being said. I will always have respect for him for what he did with Red State, which is actually the last movie I've seen by him and loved it. Directors had toured movies before Smith, but the way he did it and the backlash had never been seen. I will likely catch back up on his work at some point. I wish him nothing but the best.

I was going to write you and say Graphiti Designs still had them, and now I find out they are temporarily out of business. Dang.

I think it’s gotten some hate aswell as most of his recent work. But the end of Jay and Silent Bob reboot was very touching backed by Pearl Jam’s song Daughter. Clerks 3 hit me harder . The ending with Gerald Way song the water is wide. Clerks was childhood. And seeing it play out in front of him on his deathbed before departed that theater with her… cries of “Don’t you ing leave me man! Help!!!!!!l” it was a tear jerker for me. One thing I didn’t care for in this one was Elias role.
