I apologise if this has already been answered - I had a cursory glance but couldn’t find an answer.
Who is the ultimate Doink - Matt Borne, Ray Apollo or Steve Lombardi?

I view the 3 Doinks we got as 3 different wrestlers portraying them.
UE: Matt Borne E34: Steve Keirn (although it could also be Borne) Flashback: Ray Apollo

I agree with the UE & Flashback 100%

Bourne is Ultimate. E34 is too IIRC, but I know the Heartbreak Hotel Flashback was Apollo

It's 1000 percent Borne, from late 92/early 93. I always view Borne as the one true Doink so that first elite I'd say is also him, and then the Flashback series Doink is Apollo from late 94 (wore that outfit at Survivor Series)

They have packaging mix-ups all the time. I wouldn't have been stunned if they accidentally threw a pic of Brawler or Jericho as Doink on there lol Also the back of that elite says "Circa 1993." Borne was Doink for 11 out of 12 months in 1993, Apollo didn't take over until Survivor Series at the very end of November.

Well it could easily work for either...Kind of an in-between to the UE and Flashback.

In real life, Borne was clearly the best Doink wrestler/actor/portrayer. But to me, the figure isn't Borne, Apollo, Lombardi or any of them: it's Doink. I have a T-800 from NECA from their T2 line. To me, it's not Arnold it's a terminator. But that's just me. I like to separate the artist from the art. It's perfectly valid not to separate them, but that's just how I feel.

They're all Matt Borne because they all use his facial likeness on the figures. Though Matt never wore the face Doink attire, you could kinda say it's Ray Apollo, but it's Matt's face.

Didn't Matt wear the traditional blue attire at Summer Slam 1993? Wasn't that the same attire face Doink wore the rest of 1993 through most of 1994?

Although it's worth noting Mattel's other Doink (the one you're referring to) doesn't have the 3 green circles underneath the tie on the singlet that Matt's SS93 attire had. Even then, it's still Borne, as it's his face.
