It’s been 20 years since NWO came to WWE & I actually loved their run for what it was... what about you guys?
It might sound unpopular but looking back I was entertained by their presence alone & it was too cool seeing the black & white colours & hearing the music on WWE TV!
I wish they would have continued throughout 02 & maybe into 03/04 but oh well.

Stuff with The Rock was fine but quickly became a cluster afterwards.

Snakebit from day #1.
Awful pity though but Vince half assed it too...didn't do his homework & plan for them properly at all.

The best part about it was their backstage interaction with the Rock in that one segment.

The best part about it was their backstage interaction with the Rock in that one segment. Agreed. Outside of that, I never cared for it. The nWo had one time period that mattered (as far as I'm concerned) and that was '96-'98.

Missed opportunity. After the invasion angle of the previous year, there was potential for the NWO to create a stir. But never really got going in my opinion and became just another clique in the storylines imo.

Also booker t singing HBKs entrance music to try and get him to join was amazing.

Vince’s ‘poison’ promo was awesome, especially when he turned around and revealed the logo on the chair.

The problem is that Vince brought them in as a group, like a stable. They weren't seen as "outsiders" coming in, or even seen as guys coming back home to take over their promotion. They came in as 3 guys, who were there to put over Rock and Austin. I am sure if Triple H wasn't busy with Jericho and Stephanie then, he would be there to help beat the NWO too.

HHH wasn't feuding with Jericho and HBK decided to return a couple months early then I could see something like Kliq vs Austin,Rock,Taker,Hogan and maybe Kane/Jericho or maybe that's just wishful thinking.

HHH vetoed any involvement with the storyline from the sidelines when he was approached about it & Undertaker turned heel rather than work with them when he heard they were coming in..its pretty well documented.Vince was absolutely blindsided by the reaction of his roster to them coming in when it was first aired in October 01
I was just thinking...if Vince had brought them in s bit earlier(maybe he couldnt) the ME of No Way Out 2002 could have been Austin, Rock vs the nWo.
Instead we got that on Raw. Would have been a hell of a buyrate for him.

And that was completely unavoidable...they did everything they could to make him a sh#tbird heel but folks were just too glad to see him back. I've always said the original invasion didn't need the nWo & this is further proof of it.

Even as an obsessed teenage fan back then the luster didn't last long. I fondly remember when Vince cut that promo and spun around in his chair to reveal the nWo logo. Hogan was the biggest draw, but Razor and Diesel were two of my favorite wrestlers when I first started watching the WWF so having Hall and Nash back was the part I was really excited about.
Their first appearance at No Way Out was another highlight sheerly due to the crowd response. I know the storyline portrayed them as these outside invaders, but it definitely felt more like a homecoming for all three finally coming back to the company where they became stars.
It just didn't have the same effect or magic as the original nWo angle had in 1996. Catching lightning in a bottle twice always proves to be difficult in pro wrestling. They were barely around as a group for one month so it kind of felt pointless altogether to even bring the nWo back at that point. Hogan did have that incredible nostalgia run that spring so at least it lead to something. Unfortunately, Hall was gone by May and Nash shortly afterwards got sidelined with the quad injury.
2002 was a banner year for the company in terms of roster depth and stacked PPVs, but the nWo reboot was a total failure.

U summed it all up nicely. I still enjoyed the ending of their run but I just wish it lasted a few more months.

It amazes me as to why Vince, after absolutely destroying WCW from 1998 onwards and brutally criticising their business practices, went on to repeat many of their mistakes (from 1998-2000) in 2001-2003. Basically talking about hotshotting and throwing money away through live tv and missing out on money angles and increase buyrates for ppv.
Eg:
- The Rock (WCW Champion) vs Steve Austin (WWF Champion) on Raw in Aug 2001 - The Rock & Austin vs NWO on Raw in Feb 2002 - Eric Bischoff debuting cold on Raw in July 2002 and not even building up an angle vs Vince like everyone expected and would 100% buy into - Kane losing his mask vs Triple H live on Raw and having no build up whatsoever. And the other stipulation being Triple H puts the WHC title on the line. All to pop a rating, which never came. And nobody in their right mind thought Kane would beat Triple H after Kane was in a mediocre tag-title run/job role to La Resistance.
Those are just to name a few. Many more of these and that deserves a thread on its own.

That would have been a huge buy rate! Invasion level I'd say. He missed an opportunity there IMHO That would have been too crazy... tbh WWE & WCW both missed out on too many big time potential buy rates.
