FedEx dropped off my set from Ringside today and I'm really loving this one. Seeing the Savage with the Hogan tan is a bit odd considering it's his first time with that color skintone but could definitely get behind seeing future figures getting the tan treatment. Both look fantastic.

it is too bad we didnt get the correct skin tones right the 1st time. Hogan and Savage both look better with tan. makes the lighter tones look so inaccurate now. blah.
ill prob grab this down the line. dont need it right now. but do like it.

For anyone that has unboxed it yet, can you try to wrap the plastic "Hulk Rules" soft goods shirt so that it wraps into the headband, creating the same makeshift bandana that is displayed on the side of the box.
Is it possible?
Also I dont know why they have this closed eyes Hogan headscan. It's a waste of new tooling, just for the sake of trying to humour a few people. If you watch Summerslam 1988 in the pre tape interviews, when they do the "handshake" pose Hogan has that 'crazed' stare. Possibly even more amplified of a crazed stare from him than usual.
Not once during the handshakes did Hogan have his eyes closed.
Also I think they could have tried to get a new headscan of Savage if they were going to do something new. A headscan of his mouth in the "ooohhh" pose when he starts his "oooohhh yeahhh" catchphrase. Or even his unique, over exaggerated teeth in the "yeahhhhh" pose.
Enough with the tongue Savage headscan, I don't think it's pulled off well.
Would have been better also if Savage had pointing fingers, so that he could have posed pointing his fingers at Hogan, while he is ripping his vest off.
Honestly, you guys have a dream job at Mattel. You get paid to design toys that many of us have passionately always wanted to see. You have the chance to nail the toy perfectly.
Sometimes like with the Elite 96 Hogan headscan you absolutely nail it perfectly. That Hogan looks like it has jumped off the TV screen.
But with other finished products - Ultimate Warrior Royal Rumble 1990 elite, it falls short. That toy could have been perfect.
Macho King - Wrestlemania VI elite - everyone loves the robe he wore at this event, so why wasn't it made into an Ultimate Edition?
I think the finished product on this Mega Powers box falls short also.

I hope your cough has gotten better. I don't know why there haven't been more complaints about Machos headband. It's too thick I think. It shouldn't line up in thickness next to his sunglasses. His sunglasses should overlap the headband if that makes sense. Because of this it doesn't look right. Either that or the headband is just too big. Or too straight. It isn't a straight looking headband, it has an ark to it and slanted. I would even say that the Hasbro Macho from series 1 had a more accurate look with his headband. The Hogan headscans also are not very good at all. They should use the elite 96 headscans for Hogan toys from 1988-90. And that eyes closed headscan......he looks tired from a long run at the park. Doesent look like a Hogan face scan that jumps off the screen like his Elite 96 does. For all the anticipation of these toys for the last two years after Elizabeth elite 77 came out. I would say that these are two crappy toys and I would rate it 5 out of 10. I think someday if Mattel lose there rights, if Hasbro get their rights to it they are going to do a much better version and then we are going to think "ughhh why did I get this Mattel version, I might be able to sell it for $10 now." It's the same for those Jakks figures. People try to justify having got them (cough, cough Kyle Peterson) but when I look at them now im glad that I didn't waste a single cent on any of them. Just some free advice and opinions from a customer. |
