I live in NYC. Any "positive experience" I've had with the homeless is due to entertainment. The guy who smoked crack next to me on the train, the man arguing with his invisible wife over taking his last cigarette, the real life comedian who dresses like a homeless person and films his begging scenes, the singers, the one who dresses like Hillbilly Jim who crapped his pants on the train, the ones that intentionally block steps by laying down, their entire world built into decked out grocery carts, the poop thrower, the yellers, the angry yellers, and of course ... the very angry yellers. #justanotherday Your post had me remember this long haired guy who'd scream at his much older homeless wife all the time. They'd shout and fight over a few blocks. Then they'd chill. I'm guessing they were speed junkies

I have a new one. Was in LA for WrestleMania. Last day before leaving, went to Wendy's for lunch. Homeless woman comes in, raking through the bins, me being the good natured person that I am, made the cardinal sin of offering her food. Her response is a loud " you!" and keeps walking to the bin behind me to rake through that. The next thing I know I feel a shower of liquid fly over my head, the crazy bum had thrown a drink in my direction. I was absolutely dumbfounded and she got put out before I could even react. Maybe she was a proud woman but Jesus Christmas. Surely if you're raking through bins for food you're pride is long out the window? I suppose I got what I wished for as on the last day I was saying to myself that I don't have any crazy stories to take home. But lesson learned, when I'm in America, I'll be leaving the homeless the hell alone. They're mental!

I bought one giant jug of AZ Tea and Doritos. I didn’t have cash but I asked if he was hungry.
I made lift gift bags with my girlfriend for holidays.
When I was Asset Protection for Target one would always come in with these giant dreds and his pet dog. I’d buy them dog food and snack for him. He never stole he usually bought stuff with his money and donations he’d get
I see it as 50/50. I’m law enforcement officer. I started at the jails, did security for Target, and got on with Police Department.
I’ve seen a lot of POS homeless, especially doing security with Target. And the area of that Targets pretty rough with them. That area use to be fine for long time till few years back.
I’ve had a lot of good experiences to where I provably forget to be honest. But, I also understand it’s not night and day. But I still follow that phrase I can’t word for word but “you never know if it’s Christ himself that you denied as a beggar”.
Doesn’t mean you condone the lawless behaviors and garbage homeless people who victimize people and destroy others stuff. Just being a mindful human

I'll be leaving the homeless the hell alone. They're mental! Well that's how the majority end up homeless bucko. Mental health issues and nobody helps them, so they fall through the cracks.

A homeless guy has been taking food from his breakfast plate, most mornings, and feeding my favorite feral cat and his mate. That is super special and kind.
