He should have been paired with Hogan or Snuka. I doubt Snuka will ever get made. Adonis would be a good pairing if they ever have him under contract. Maybe Muraco could be the next best thing from that era. Or Muraco and Ace with a pink cowboy hat. Piper could come with a variety of heads with long and short hair representing his heel and face looks since his attire never really changed much and apparently they can’t do the Panther shirt. What’s the reason that can’t do the panther shirt?! |

I wonder if not having access to the panther shirt is the reason they haven't done a Piper from that time period, other than the 2-pack with Mr. T a few years ago. Most people identify early WWF Piper with the panther shirt, putting a Hotrod shirt on the figure wouldn't really distinguish 84/85 Piper from 89/90 Piper. Hopefully they can get access to the shirt, an Ultimate Edition WM1 Piper would go great with the Hogan and Mr. T already released.

The LJN Piper has the Hot Rod shirt. If they are going for somewhat similar looks from the LJN cards, poster, figures, then it should have the Hot Rod shirt (it would be cool to have a panther shirt in packaging, though).

The LJN Piper has the Hot Rod shirt. If they are going for somewhat similar looks from the LJN cards, poster, figures, then it should have the Hot Rod shirt (it would be cool to have a panther shirt in packaging, though). They made a running change to Piper's LJN poster so some have the panther and some have hot rod. |

A Coliseum Collection Piper can carry that set so well that they can pretty much stick anyone with him and it will sell. I'd like to see them go for a little deeper cut into the LJN line.

Pretty much. Plus I think Mattel might not be too concnerned about having the wrestlers in a set have that much of a connection to one another anyway. Piper could even come with Andre, they had a couple of memorable interactions on Piper's Pit, various tag matches and at least one singles match. Snuka ain't happening anytime soon, unfortunately. Which is too bad cause I have no doubt a Mattel-made, updated Snuka figure would be a thing of beauty. What is the reasoning behind Snuka? Nevermind, I just looked it up. Wasn't aware of that. |

 How do you feel about Roddy Piper getting an Ultimate Edition in this red suit jacket? It's closer to the Wrestlemania 1 timeline than the Classic Hot Rod shirt which he started wearing after Wrestlemania and he appeared a couple of times in this red suit jacket on Tuesday Night Titans in January 1985. Would you want this attire to be molded in or in soft goods version? I feel that the Panther shirt Piper is a must though as it was what he mainly wore leading up to and at Wrestlemania. |

 Alternatively they could have a heel Piper in a red shirt but instead of it saying Hulkamania it can be a red HotRod logo shirt. The red Hot Rod shirt with yellow logo was never official merchandise. But this idea was used in a WWE Beer Mug from 1985 as displayed in the image below just in reverse image.  Anyway it's an alternative idea if they can't release the Panther Roddy Piper shirt. |
