Triple S has the best take. There isn't a single bone in my body that wanted the New Gen Arena or any of the figure looks that came with it. I mean that with no disrespect to those who got it. It just isn't at all my bag...baby. The Raw ring is basically how I think the WWE ring should actually still look...naturally I was pumped when I found out it would be a Ringside Exclusive as for me it's basically the definitive WWE wrestling ring...just like the New Gen ring is for a lot of others. I also wouldn't call it an 'instant release' as not only did the ring get to us well after most folks, maybe not 100%, but most had the Arena in hand on top of MC's stock of the ring giving people who want both ample time to save up or make room or whatever the reason for not being able to buy with us might be. If you want to be a completist then fine. Nothing to knock there. But for plenty of us the Attitude Era ring is it! with the new gen ring and same for the raw ring, I just wanted the figures lol. no need or use for the rings or the entrance thing (although that thing is cool as hell). Yeah I can see how that can be annoying, especially if it's a look you really want, and you don't need another ring. For me that Kane is definitive because it's the same style as his tag team run with X-Pac. I can't imagine there will ever be a time that rings don't come with a bonus figure and a unique look, though. Especially an exclusive. ESPECIALLY A RINGSIDE EXCLUSIVE

ESPECIALLY A RINGSIDE EXCLUSIVE I get why they include figures to help the ring sell but man, I hate spending so much money for something just for the figure(s). That’s why I didn’t buy the Raw ring because I just want the Kane, so I’m hoping once they ship from MC that they flood the market and I can get just a Kane for a reasonable price. but I do say BRING ON MORE RINGSIDE EXCLUSIVES

Anybody know how long the Attitude ring will be available at Mattel Creations? Until the quantity produced sells out.

Pretty sure the rings are different slightly. Obviously blue vs black, but also I don’t think the AE one has the planks or pad. Or a light up entrance stage and 2 other elites. they are different aesthetically. Same planks and ring canvas. I don’t find it a conflict of interest but it’s the exact same tooling

I have no use for the rings, just the figures, but if I were wanting a ring it would definitely be the Attitude Era one.

Triple S has the best take. Careful. You can get tarred and feathered for a hot take like that around here. … I think I hear the angry mob with their torches. 🤣

Wait?! Some folks still don’t have the New Gen set?! Did I hear that right?

As someone who funded the New Gen ring despite not caring much about the New Gen and only got it because I love scale rings and entrance playsets AND who ordered the Attitude Era ring because I love the Attitude Era and scale rings… complaining about the release of the Attitude Era ring being too close to the release of the New Gen ring seems like crying over nothing. They’re two distinctly different products and if you bought it from RSC, you already got it. I ordered mine from Mattel and am getting a “ships by May” release date, 5 months after I ordered it. What is the point in demanding an arbitrary waiting period just so random individuals feel better that they got their toy first? It’s crazy. They’re not even the same product! Mattel was probably hoping to get it out by Christmas and missed the holiday window.

I'm probably going to buy this one soon. I'm kind of spergy about keeping separate the characters of different periods, otherwise it's "video game wrestling," as if Texas Tornado versus Kevin Nash of the nWo period makes any dimensional sense other than to squash him in 3 minutes. Different eras, ages, move sets, aesthetics.
I'm only confused about Jakks (real scale, I think), Mattel authentic, Wicked classic. I got the cage for the Wicked Toys one that took me forever to figure out. Would that cage fit this in the New Generation ring? I bought that one recently but it has yet to arrive.
I looked at the pictures of the Jakks Hell in a Cell. How were people supposed to play with that? Seems like it was only for display, which wouldn't surprise me since Jakks seemed to have the worst QC imaginable

So you’d just remove the one side (usually the front) and boom.

Figured with time, lack of modernized models, and (I presume) rarity, it would have gone for $500. The Wicked toys ring and cage added up to maybe $400+, ring used

Wait?! Some folks still don’t have the New Gen set?! Did I hear that right? I never got mine. It was lost in transit, and they refunded me. I had to buy everything separately on eBay.

If you want to be a completist then fine. Nothing to knock there. But for plenty of us the Attitude Era ring is it! This has always been the problem here. " tripleass has the best take, I'm tripleasses friend and I come running to his defence because I love him". Believe it or not this is a discussion board, and people should be able to have an opinion without being corrected on it. You read half a post and can't contain your inner karen. "Omg I need to reply and everyone has to know me and triples are tight" You defend the raw ring by telling me how good it is......yeah I know Tom..I ordered one and said it was great. All I said (multiple times) is that the timing was poor. I knew a few people who didn't have the ring they paid to have made while mattel was beginning to punt the raw ring. A small interval of time is nothing really, few months would have been fine. So it'd not about defending the need for a raw ring tom, nor is it about you defending your pals honour or anything, don't worry. I'd never hurt her

I don't get the timing issue. Weren't people pre-ordering the New Gen set over a year ago? The Attitude Era ring was really recently available for pre-order. It took a year to produce but no one who pre-paid lost anything but time. $150 isn't a horrible price all things considered. Modern toy collecting is pricy. I felt the end come when Jakks did CS Series 6 right after another. It was just a lot at once for a college kid. $25 for a two pack was substantial to what prices were before

New Gen is polarizing anyway. I'm surprised people are nostalgic about that period. It was booking genius to make a lot of viable stars from scratch of those who never got a break, while trying to pass off people like Bret Hart as competitive with his forebears. The production substantially declined (it was almost like fog overcame the television screen), undercard often SMW castaways just to fill TV, tag teams depleted and heatless, chief storylines silly, McMahon stuck in "What would my dad have done in the 1970's?" with ethnic tribute acts like Tatanka, Albano, Headshrinkers (modern Wild Samoans), and Bob Backlund; women's wrestling treated semi-seriously, old foggies brought in like Nikolai Volkoff, among other things. It's a miracle that they did so much with so little in such a short period of time, since it seemed like week by week the company was struggling to find its voice through really arbitrary experimentation, sometimes with smarks at Raw and families at Superstars and Challenge. It was surreal to see in contrast to the 80's. Licensing was deplorable in that period too. Like the "Bend 'ems" being their main toy line for two years 😪
My reservation about the Attitude Era is that the undercard throwaways were a lot more amusing, and Mattel will never make people like the undercard gangs, Flash Funk, Sultan (well, maybe they will), Oddities, and the rest. With the passage of time, that gets harder to do since normies will never buy people like that. It's one of those weird periods where the top guys were so over that the product designers seem to forget a good 40% of the roster. (Tiger Ali Singh was funny af)
The heart and soul of a product will always be the undercard, not just the main guys. They reflect the tempo set by the main event talents.
I'm thankful for the two sets because it's nice to have the eras be delineated. The shifts were really subtle over a few brief years until it was decided to pull the gun entirely in moving towards a more mean-spirited taste that appealed to Gen X types over yuppie Cold War kids of the 80's and a smorgasbord of demos during the New Gen

… too good. 🤣🤣
