This is the one that I knew was gonna be a tough one. Neither card is knock down drag out amazing….I mean one card has Scotty Riggs vs Mikey Whipwreck. I wanna say WCW cause I’ll probably never vote WCW again after this because woof they are about to take a giant dive off a cliff.

Woof that WCW undercard. Over The Edge as a ppv sucked for a multitude of reasons, but still better than WCW

WWF wins this one just sadly on Owen's death.
I remember hearing about what happened and I had to get a copy of the event to see how everything went down. My friends and I were glued to the TV screen while watching it just in disbelief of everything that was happening at that event.
So a sad, dubious award goes to WWF to win this one.
R.I.P. Owen!

I'm going to go with WWF. Austin was still running strong, and WCW wasn't getting any better. But neither PPV was great.

I’ll say wwf. It’s kind of close though. I like the wcw main events better but the wwf card overall is better

WCW Sting, Piper, Flair, Steiners, Benoit & Jericho on the WCW card so that’s what I would watch.

Tough call. I’d give the in-ring work to WCW, but the storylines to the WWF. I’ll go WWF this round simply because the main two matches were more important than anything WCW was doing at the time. Crazy that less than a year before this Goldberg/Sting and Nash/DDP would have been highly anticipated. By May of 1999, they just…happened with little to no reason what so ever.

WWF for me again this month, but it is closer than it has been for a few months to be fair to WCW.
Nothing could compete with Austin vs Taker and Rock vs HHH!
I was though interested in Nash vs DDP and Goldberg vs Sting so WCW still had some stuff I was digging at the time.

The fact WCW gave away the first ever Goldberg/Sting match on free TV, after giving away the first Goldberg/Hogan match on free TV, is mind blowing. Even crazier, as you mentioned, is how only 6 months later we got Goldberg/Sting II in a match most people don’t even remember happening. Their Slamboree match was so random with nearly no build what so ever.

Their Slamboree match was so random with nearly no build what so ever. They just started hot shorting anything and everything to try to boost ratings but generally that stuff doesn’t typically work. It’s like in 97 if WWE just gave Stone Cold the belt on a random Raw instead of building it up for a year and knowing that was the direction. Even when talking about the screwjob, the question is why not give it to Austin, the answer was “Austin was the mania plan and we didn’t want to mess with it”

WWF but only by a slim margin. Both cards had good main events and secondary main events on paper but nothing noteworthy on the undercards. Slamboree was ok but not that memorable. It’s not fair to judge Over the Edge because it will only be remembered for Owen’s tragic death.
