For those that don’t feel like reading the article:
After defeating FTR with Dralistico at AAA’s Triple Mania tonight, Dragon Lee announced he has signed with the WWE. Thus, vacating the AAA Tag Team Championship.
Dragon Lee is expected to start with NXT in January. More than likely to be a focal point of the rumored NXT Mexico.
Papa H is at it again. I could see 1-2 signings coming after Wrestle Kingdom, too.
How the hell are Wikipedia gonna tell me he was formerly known as Mistico, but it’s not Mistico/Sin Cara? Haha
I can't figure out what's confusing here, it's really quite simple when you break it down:
Sin Cara is Mistico Dragon Lee is Mistico Dragon Lee is not Mistico Dralistico is Mistico Dralistico is Dragon Lee Dragon Lee is not Dralistico Dragon Lee is not Sin Cara Dralistico is not Sin Cara

Dragon Lee has quite a few years of I guess bad luck?
He signed with New Japan literally right before the pandemic. So he never got started. Had the fall out with CMLL so never got brought to New Japan full time, Couldn’t sign with AEW when Rush did etc because of contract with New Japan. So apparently he talked to a lot of his friends about who to sign with. And unlike the last few years where no doubt most would have said AEW over WWE he was told to sign with WWE because the Mexican guys haven’t faired so hot in AEW as of late and a lot of the guys are fighting for TV time. He goes to NXT and he is instantly one of the top guys on the brand, and has a shot at being a big star on the main roster after 8-12 months.
One would imagine Andrade is heading back as soon as he can. If this NXT Mexico is successful, no doubt Rush would for sure make his way over to join them. Could be interesting.

I never understood the whole "we only need one masked guy" mindset that Vince had. I also know this isn't Lucha Libre Wrestling but why not have MORE guys who can move that way and that the kids will love the masks of? Maybe parents will buy a Rey mask and a Dragon mask who knows. I say the more the merrier.

I think it goes with that idea that you can only push 8-10 guys at a time, so you have your Lucha guy, your foreign guy, your young babyface etc. Bruce Prichard explained the mindset once on his podcast. They haven’t had that too Mexican star since Rey stopped being a full time guy.

They're going to try with Dominik for sure but just like people like me (caucajun aka white with some spice) have many to choose from to root for, they should have the same variety IMO. Eddie and Rey were both massive, one more for kids and one more for the older teens/adult crowd. I think they could build him differently and separately but odds are he ends up in a tag team or a stable. Maybe if he's lucky he can be the lucha guy in NXT. Asuka did so well there, Shinsuke and so many other "foreigners" that can go in the ring but don't lack the english speaking promo chops to connect with the American audience. I hope either way they go he gets his chance to shine, I always enjoyed Lee's work.

Very good signing by Papa H, the WWE badly need more promising young talents in their 20's on the roster.Currently AEW is killing them in that department.Adding Dragon Lee to the mix with Breakker,Theory,Stevenson,Dunne,Bate,Hayes,Dragunov..ect

In theory if you have ten of Spider-Man, Spider-Man becomes less special (although people do like a Spider-verse).
WWE have had multiple masked wrestlers throughout Rey’s run, two of the biggest in merchandising terms being Kane and Hurricane. But they’re different characters. Masked high-flying Luchadors, like Sin Cara and Kalisto, always just seem like dollar store bootleg versions of Rey Mysterio. To some extent, it’s a victim of Rey’s success, because he’s so iconic. He’s Hulk Hogan and anyone else in the same mold is the Lex Express.

That's a fair assessment. I just think they could do with a masked powerhouse like Luchasaurus, a masked technician and a masked high flyer like Rey when he slows down and leaves. I believe the others were less successful because they didn't have the tools Rey had. Rey could work, talk, didn't trip getting into the ring and was booked well. He also had a unique entrance (so did Sin Cara) and good intro track to get people hyped. I will say Ultimo Dragon could have easily rivaled him but I think they wasted him when he was around. Maybe he was older by then? Memory isn't too solid of his run but I know he was fantastic in the ring. Kane and Hurricane were both awesome lol especially anytime either of them worked with The Rock. I will always prefer silent masked Kane but the "Kanenites" promo with him Rock and Hogan still kills me to this day. I just think there's two or three positions that could do better with some masked guys that aren't tossed into a stable for no other reason than they look like each other. Pentagon is one of those guys imo.
