So story goes Hall was going to WCW no matter
Nash got a offer and went to Vince to match but Vince said no, so Nash left
BUT what if Vince had matched it and Hall went to WCW alone?
Obviously there wouldn't be a NWO, I would think, where do you think Hall would have fit in as going to WCW by himself. What happens to Sting, since he likely doesn't become CROW STING..where does Hogan fit in? Does he keep the red and yellow?
Who else gets impacted?

Interesting one. I recently started watching this time period for the first time so no expert on the subject.
Difficult to know how they would bring hall in to the fold. Do they still go with him being an outsider? I suspect with the ratings war that WCW wouldn’t ignore the fact he’s ex WWF - for the bragging rights if nothing else.
I’ve heard/read Hogan had misgivings about turning heel (and personally I believe he did). Without the buzz of the NWO I don’t think Hogan would have turned. Most likely Hall would be built up as a major threat, but would end up being fed to Hogan.
I’m purely guessing with Sting, don’t know enough about him or his character at this stage. But from what I understand, the crow character was born out of the frustration that he’d joined the NWO. Sting doesn’t feel a natural heel but may have been crowded out with Hogan, Macho et al at the top of the face side. Maybe a change of promotion would have been best, whether WWF (a stretch) or more tour dates in Japan.

No NWO angle without Nash thats for sure.I can see em being a solid hand in US ranks
As far as Hogan goes,he desperately needed change as you cant ignore the boos forever.Do they still convince em to turn or is Hall fed to em in the end?Interesting to think about
Surfer Sting was on his last legs in 96 so I still think we get Crow or some type of darker character in the end.

Just couldnt see em as a Horsemen especially that era.Maybe in the 80s but not 96 Plus the fact the Horsemen were a shell of their former self by this point.Wouldve dragged em down imo.Just let em go solo as he was already over to begin with |

Good question.
Perfect world, someone other than Nash goes. It’d have to be similar level star power and the NWO or something like it could’ve still taken off.
Real world and just Scott goes? I think he makes an impact initially then fades and becomes just another guy.
WCW needed the NWO in my opinion

I often think about how his career wouldve turned out if he didnt have demons.The guy had the complete package...look,promo,could wrestle etc

Interesting to think about, Hall going alone would have been tough. He was a great talent, but the fact that two of the biggest stars in the WWF at the time had jumped ship to WCW gave the NWO a lot of credibility. I think the NWO still happens, Bischoff was hellbent on doing that angle, but hard to see it having as big an impact without Nash. Though, had they not gotten Nash, I wonder if they would have tried to get someone else from the WWF or just go with Hall as a lone wolf/outsider. They were pushing hard to get Bret, so maybe they try to get someone else. The only problem is that the WWF was not very deep with big name talent; after Hall, Nash, Bret, Taker, Shawn, Bulldog, Owen, there weren't any real big names to make a splash. Even if they got Bret to come over in 1996, I don't think it works as well as with Nash. Hogan was clearly going to be the main solo star, so that doesn't really leave room for Bret, and Hall & Bret as a tag team doesn't work as well as Hall & Nash in my opinion. Since Luger was a star in the WWF recently, they could use him in Nash's place, but I still don't think it works as well. Though, if they still go with the NWO angle, they probably do the crow Sting gimmick. They were already looking to change up Sting, he was starting to grow his hair out and no longer dying it. RIP Scott Definitely, he was really good at all levels of wrestling. I believe his drug issues and other demons kept him from ascending to the heavyweight title picture in the WWF. Though, he did a great job in the position he was in, he made the IC title remain a huge deal, one of the better IC champions. |

I really can't answer this but will say the night he debuted it was announced early in the show Colonel Parker had a surprise. I thought for sure he was going to be bringing out Razor. Anything Colonel Parker related normally flopped at this point so it would have been interesting to see how fans would have reacted if Razor/Hall came out with Parker. Parker debuted Mike Enos which should have been a snack break but fans stayed long enough to see Hall come out in the crowd.

You could injure Sting or Flair in the match, then bring down Hogan to turn on Savage. The only bad thing about this is, Luger's 1997 wouldn't have happened. 1997 might have been Luger's best year, he was probably the most over he had ever been, and he did get a run with the belt - albeit a short run. In the end, I think this just proves that Hall and Nash were the right guys to do this. |
