This is going to be my last reply in this thread. I am NOT flaming CM Showstopper or trying to argue about anything minor such as opposing opinions. I am simply stating facts regarding the law so that people are careful when dealing with someone who is misinformed and could get them in trouble in the future.

I already replied to his private message that was trying to tell me how I'm wrong but I feel it's necessary to warn people one last time so they don't get caught up in something illegal.

Here are the facts:

1. He thought it was ok to use Arrow's official logo on items that he sells in his advertised 'Arrow Merchandise' online store. He admitted he was wrong and removed those items.

2. He thinks that because he commissioned an artist to "replicate the image" (his exact quote), that he then gains ownership of that image. I direct everyone to research the AP/Shepard Fairey lawsuit. He created the famous HOPE Obama posters using a slightly edited image that was owned by AP and tried to profit of it as if it was his own. The image that CM is selling on shirts is 100% a doctored version of that very same promo image that is owned and distributed by Warner Bros. Spending 5 minutes editing it in Photoshop does not grant someone exclusive license to sell that image. (and especially not when you go ahead and throw in their actual tv logo and use the show's title in your advertisement as well.)

3. He believes that because "arrow" is an every day word, there is no problem with legally advertising your store as "Arrow Merchandise" while using logos and images from the TV show "Arrow" on the merchandise. If he were to advertise an arrow head shop as "Arrow Merchandise" then that would be absolutely fine. However, his usage of the term "Arrow" in "Arrow Merchandise" is referring to the Warner Bros. Show "Arrow" and nothing else. He is not a vendor through Warner Bros.

4. He claims that "Each artist that has worked with me knows what role they play ". (another exact quote) This is the exact reason why I feel it's necessary to warn people who may not be knowledgable on these types of laws. The person who edited that Warner Bros. image and then gained compensation from doing so either was unaware of the law or just simply didn't care. I'd hate for someone to get caught up in a big legal mess simply because the person that they're hired by is completely misinformed on the law. Then what? He would probably claim that you knew what role you played.

As stated, this is my last reply. I'm not trying to flame CM Showstopper or argue about differing opinions. I'm just trying to warn people that it may not be the best idea to assume he knows the laws when he thought it was legal to put Arrow's logo on a t-shirt and sell it. Just saying...
