As you may or may not know, I have never watched a Royal Rumble more recent than 1999. I've decided that now is the time to change that, and I'm going to let the regulars here decide which one I start with! The poll will remain open for 1 week, with a short 'report' on the event due after a further 2 weeks ( Sunday 29th January). The years included in the poll have been chosen because they were significant points in my life (in other words, I remember what I was doing at the time). They have not been chosen due to the matches at the event. Feel free to explain your vote!

2007.
It's an amazing Rumble from top to bottom.

2000
Slightly biased as I lost interest in wrestling around 2002. But as an event it is worth it for Hardy’s v Dudley’s and HHH v Foley (I forget which incarnation he wrestled as but remember what a stunning match it was). And I always got a kick out of Lawlers commentary relating to Kaientai in the Rumble match

The entire RR 2000 event is amazing. Excellent card and the Rumble itself is good stuff too

2000 for sure. Strong card like mentioned
Taz debut
Trips/Cactus in a banger
Dudleys/Hardys tear it up
Great Rumble
Yeah this gets my vote

From that list, 2000 gets my vote. Not just for the rumble match, but the whole PPV is great.
I also really like 2001, 2002 and 2007.

Of the ones up there i'd say 2000 for similar aforementioned reasons, but 2001, 2002, 2007 and 2008 are all solid options as well.

Like most are saying 2000.
Was in the crowd for RR 02 but pretty enjoyable even if I hadn't been.
Think 05 is underrated I enjoyed everything except the casket match.

2001. It's between that year and 2007 for me for greatest ever Rumble match.
The whole '01 card is good. Edge & Christian/Dudleys is a fantastic opener and Jericho/Benoit is one of the greatest ladder matches you'll see.
EDIT*
Just realised that 2001 isn't on your list, haha.
From that list I'd say 2007, the card isn't bad and it's a fantastic rumble with one of the best finishing sequences. Also, Umaga/Cena is incredible!

id watch em all in order myself. 2002 is the best one post 1999 ( why is that not up there?) I wanted to start with a Rumble from a time period I can relate to. I can remember what was going on in my life in January of the years included in the poll. I simply can't relate to January 2001, 2002 and 2004. I do plan to watch all of these Rumbles in the coming months though.

I went with 2003.
The Rumble match itself was very entertaining that year, plus you get the excellent Benoit vs. Angle match for the WWE Title.

I don't think you can really go wrong with any Rumble up to around 2010, after that the caliber of people entering is just 90% jabronis I have otherwise never heard of and the only fun is in the returning surprise entrants.
I say just start at 2000 and work your way up. Why not watch them in order? You often get callbacks to previous matches that you'll not appreciate as much if you watch out of order.

One of the few times of that era where I was on my toes in wondering who was gonna win. I thought Benoit was gonna win the WWE Title many times in that match, and then Angle got the win.
Incredible match!
