I am new to the figure collecting hobby and have been doing my research on things and going through the Wrestling Figures Database. I've already picked up more things than I initially planned on, and I now realize I am diving in head first, which should be fun. One thing that I've noticed is that Jakks line seems to have released a lot of old school wrestlers / legends and most haven't been re-released. Others have never seemed to have a release. Do you think as that era gets older and older the chances of seeing figures disappears?
For me, a few I would LOVE to see new figures for
Nikita Koloff - an 80's Nikita with a nice chain and the Red NWA US title would be a huge want. I've seen the 2008 Nikita, but it seems pricey when looking for it and the chain isnt really a chain. I would LOVE to pair a newer Nikita with my Magnum TA to relive their 86 US title feud. A set with Ivan / Nikita / Krusher would be sweet as well.
Rock N Roll Express - RnR were a huge favorite of mine as a kid from 85-87. Would love to see a set of them wearing the black tights with bandanas attached.
Midnight Express - Again, there is the 2000's Jakks set, but it's missing Cornette. A proper set of Eaton, Condrey and Cornette would be awesome. Would be even better if they did one with Eaton, Condrey, Lane and Cornette. One can only wish.
Barry Windham, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson - Windham and Tully have the 2000's figures, but new updated Mattel versions in their 80s NWA looks would be great, along with a 80s AA. Pair these with a newer Flair and you have the best version of the Horsemen
Newer Era
Evolution (2003-2004) - A full set of Flair, Batista, Orton and HHH in their out of ring gear (suited up) along with Tag Titles, World Title and IC Title would be sweet.
There are many more I would love to see, but dont know if it will ever happen!

Windham, Arn and Tully all had a mattel fig in a 4 pack with Flair and it isn’t very expensive on the 2nd hand market.

They did, but they are all basic figures with nothing extra, no robes, no belts.....I want a true Horsemen set, with JJ (not the expensive build a figure) I would prefer Arn with TV Title Tully with National Title Windham with US TItle Flair with Big Gold But if they want to make it period accurrate Arn and Tully with Tag Belts Windham with US Title Flair with Big Gold

I think the problem is some of these guys shelfwarm hard. You need guys to anchor them and Mattel imo, is running out of guys. I think you could find some of the guys you listed on the bay though. I really want Mattel to start pumping out the attires for guys we want. That means jeans DDP, black singlet WCW Bret Hart, black tights flame WCW Booker T, WCW '97 Starrcade Hogan, black trunks red HALL lettered Scott Hall etc...

Welcome to the slippery slope! I do think, in general, that there is a bit of "aging out" that happens. A lot of the Classic Superstars figures came out close to 15 years ago. At the time, many who grew up on those figures were in the prime demographics with disposable income. Fast forward 15 years and there's a reason you see so much content from the New Gen and Attitude eras, but less from the 80's.
That doesn't mean none of those wrestlers will get figures. Mattel still makes a fair amount of 70's and 80's figures, but that roster tends to be very WWF-centric.
There are a lot of outside factors too. Jakks could sign wrestlers directly, while today everything goes through WWE Legends contracts. The toy market is very different since the demise of Toys R Us. It's just a very different business and world overall with the growth of online retail and big box stores.
Spend some time reading threads here. You'll get a sense of who is or isn't available currently for Mattel to make. Also check out Power Town figures (under the "Other Brands" section). They recently sold their first wave of figures (including Magnum TA, though more AWA and WCCW focused), and there's a good chance folks like the Rock n Roll Express and Koloffs will show up in the next few series. If that doesn't suit you, you may also want to look into custom figures - there are some folks making incredible customs sculpted and 3D printed heads that look as good as anything the major companies release.
It's an incredible time to be a figure collector. But there are always limitations and gaps that we wish would get filled. Set a budget, do your research, and find what you like for your collecting interests.

Would love Midnights & R&R. I’d kill for a Doc & Gordy set too!

Would love Midnights & R&R. I’d kill for a Doc & Gordy set too! Miracle Violence Connection would be great.... Are there figures of 90s AJPW / NJPW greats? Not Mattel I assume, but do they exist? Also, who is Ralph that I keep reading the name of? I just came back to collecting figures after 30+ years away!

I would kill for a (better) Windham, a Nikita, and both Expresses. Hear that Bill and Steve? I'D KILL. You point, I eliminate, you give me figures, boom. It's really just that simple.

I hope there is a way to pick up those Powertown Series 1 Figures again (I see pre-orders are closed) as there are actually a few I'd like to grab,
