Random question after reading about the DC/Mattel stuff in recent days ... does anyone think Mattel has a legitimate shot of landing the Star Wars line in 2020? I'm not a big fan of the Black Series (twice built up collections only to sell them and focus on Hot Toys ... once I got Hot Toys it ruined just about everything else, lol) ... but I am a fan of the Mattel body type from all these years with WWE and would love to see them get a shot at the line. Then again, maybe Mattel's recent financial/layoff issues make this a longshot? I don’t see that happening at all. I remember an article over the summer came out from I think entertainment weekly. It stated that Star Wars is the most expensive toy license to hold. If Mattel wanted to buy Star Wars, they’d have to offer more than Hasbro and I don’t think they are at a point to be able to afford that. Also, Hasbro is currently making Star Wars and Marvel Figures; two of Disney’s hot properties. I am sure Disney has some sort of deal worked out with Hasbro that covers a pretty large spectrum. If I am correct, I believe Hasbro also makes some of the other Disney related merchandise too. Overall, despite what a lot of people seem to believe about the Star Wars product, Hasbro is excelling at it. They aren’t lacking in any major portion of it, so A) it wouldn’t be financially beneficial for Mattel to try and obtain the license and B) I don’t think Hasbro will be dropped any time soon unless they start to take a Jakks WWE route and nclude figures with no accessories.

Then again, maybe Mattel's recent financial/layoff issues make this a longshot? Don’t see it happening. Hasbro has had the license for I think like 20 years now, maybe more. I think the Black Series has been successful overall. I think there is a big segment of the Star Wars market that probably wants more 3.75” figures with less articulation, so Hasbro can pick up extra money there too. Mattel kind of only uses the WWE style bodies on WWE. Plus I don’t think Mattel can really be spending on new tooling and push a marketing campaign to get people to start their collections over. They’d basically be asking people to buy new versions of figures they likely already have pretty good versions of. I do wish Star Wars and Marvel Legends shared the same scale though. It would be nice if they could mix better.

Not a big Grievous guy in particular but I think that turned out really cool. May grab him down the road when if the price drops a few bucks on it.

Got my Archive order (plus Val for free shipping) from Dorkside. Took a shot of all of the bounty hunters together since I’ve assembled them over the last two months or so.

Went to Walgreens and picked up the exclusive General Veers. Pretty cool. Going other places looking for the Archive wave.

Anyone have any cool vintage pieces? I’ve seen some in the thread but it would be cool to see more. I think I’m gonna start collecting the older stuff.

Thank you. These were a huge part of my childhood. I hate to see the day when I have to get rid of them.
