2016.
The mens five on five match going nearly an hour when a lot of them hardly reach 20 minutes, and the squash match between Goldberg and Lesnar that no one expected.

1998, by far. It’s the ultimate attitude era show. All the twists and turns, building to an outstanding cliffhanger finish that sets up the road to WrestleMania. It was the show that made me go from watching the Saturday morning recap shows back to watching Raw in full every week.

It was the show that made me go from watching the Saturday morning recap shows back to watching Raw in full every week. As I’ve mentioned a lot on this forum I’ve been rewatching 1998 in order for the last couple months and just finished Survivor Series. I didn’t remember because I was a kid when I watched all of it, but the entire story leading up to the show was brilliant. Mankind was Vince’s guy. Vince was doing everything in his power to not only screw over Austin, but hot new babyface too. Rock was getting Austin level pops. Shane was spitting in his fathers face by helping out his enemies so much so that he got demoted to being a ref. Surely Vince was going to screw Austin and the Rock during the tournament. He tried like hell to screw the Rock but the Rock kept outsmarting him! He definitely was going to screw Austin in favor of his “son” Mankind. Wait, Shane will stop that from happening! The Shane turn, the fans obviously didn’t expect but they weren’t too surprised by it. It was a McMahon. But the Rock turn? No one saw it coming. It was brilliant. And it was another layer of Vince doing everything in his power to screw over Austin. He had Shane rehire him just to with him even more. I love seeing all Vince does simply because he hates that Austin is the face of his company. The best feud in wrestling history bar none.

And it was another layer of Vince doing everything in his power to screw over Austin. He had Shane rehire him just to with him even more. I love seeing all Vince does simply because he hates that Austin is the face of his company. The best feud in wrestling history bar none. It was perfect. People were so captivated by that Austin-McMahon storyline that 25 years later, they still imagine that the characters were real and that it’s how WWE really works behind the scenes. Fans have imagined CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Rusev, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Kofi Kingston, Becky Lynch, Kevin Owens and others as real life versions of Stone Cold Steve Austin feuding with Mr McMahon. WWE even still played into it as recently as last WrestleMania. Even now, there are people creating conspiracies in their head where Vince is wearing disguises to get backstage just to screw over Sami Zayn and Iyo Sky. “It was me all along, Austin” continues to influence the world.

2002, 2003 & 2016 from an in ring point of view, but 1998 for complete sports entertainment nonsense also deserves a shout.

A real epic show that night.
