say you owned a wrestling company and you had 12 ppvs a year
what would you name them for each month
The thing is you have to use the names of previous ppvs that have been used and can only use them for that month.
For example Royal Rumble has to be in January , you can't use it for February or any other month. Or you could pick Souled out for January or Guilty as Charged
SUmmerslam would have to be AUgust not a different month, Starrcade December
also the concept of the ppv stays the same. If you picked the Rumble for January you would have a rumble
so January through December what would you name your monthly ppvs?

May-Insurrextion(Outside US PPV exclusive each year)

I wouldnt do a PPV every month. I feel it lessens the importance of it. A PPV should be used as a payoff of an angle. If you're only running an angle for 3 weeks then nobody is getting invested in it. Furthermore if you try to run that angle over multiple months (say from Jan-Apr) nobody really wants to see the ultimate final payoff cause you've likely already seen those 2 wrestlers in countless matches in the months prior.

I agree with this, I understand why they did it back in the day, but it does dilute the product. Like you said, if it is a short feud that doesn't have a lot of fan interest, those can just be used/blown off on Raw or Smackdown. Save the PPVs for big feuds and major blow-off matches. If that were the case, and WWE actually did this now, I'd go with 6 PPVs a year, one every other month: January - Royal Rumble March - WrestleMania May - Spring Stampede July - Summer Slam November - Fall Brawl November - Survivor Series Or they could do 8 PPVs, the 4 Big Ones (Rumble, Mania, Summer Slam, and Survivor Series) could be used for both shows (Raw and Smackdown), then each show would get two PPVs for themselves (only Raw feuds and matches would be on their two PPVs, and only Smackdown feuds and matches would be on their two PPVs): January - Royal Rumble (both) February - St. Valentines Massacre (Raw) April - WrestleMania (both) June - Great American Bash - (Smackdown) August - Summer Slam (both) September - Fall Brawl (Raw) November - Survivor Series (both) December - Starrcade or Seasons Beatings (Smackdown) |

Without question the best days for PPVs when they had just 4/5 a year.
You get all invested in the storylines and are like ''come on get here already!'' Just made em feel more important.Plus those countdown shows man just added to the anticipation.

Good times With the way they do Raw and Smackdown these days, they are pretty much little PPVs themselves, there really isn't a need to do 12+ PPVs in a year. I liked the WWF PPVs of the 80s and early 90s, having 4 (later 5 with KOTR), they felt really special, those were what you waited for. I also liked the Saturday Night Main Event shows in between the PPVs, they felt like mini-PPVs to blow-off minor feuds or start bigger ones. Great times. |
