Was just listening/watching the YouTube video with Steve, Seth Rogan and some other guy and he opened a Martell figure and was asking what shelf he should go on. I’ve always tried to put wcw with wcw, golden era with GE, Attitude era with attitude era . But sometimes I have no idea where some go. But never seen a post about it on here before. But have there ever been a created list on here with what figures go with what eras? Would be fun to try and do, but I’m definitely not good at attires and years they were wore.

I wish we had this because I display mine by era as well

Display in date order of the attire, that way you end up with eras together anyway.

It depends how you collect. Over the years, I was buying figures I wanted and a lot of the other purchases were impulse buys that I later realized didn't fit for the roster I wanted. It's much easier to narrow down the specific eras or roster you want to complete. Right now, I collect the Monday Night Wars guys. Not everyone, but most of the characters I liked. I have a few that were in WCW or WWE in the later/earlier years too included. Some may also not be attire accurate to the specific brand, but around the same time period. It's just easier to collect and easier on the mind.

never collect something to be like another collector.
your collection is your world.
if visited i would see your shelf and go 'oh yeah in order of era/attire/etc... how original' or i could go 'hey man why did u organise them like this? i never seen them like that very cool, very you!'
you know what i mean?
otherwise it turns into 'oh i gotta buy that one bc 'insert name here' got it too, dunno who the character is or even like him but...'
idk

Mines loosely era based.
Well it’s pretty close, but I try and avoid more than 2 of any one guy on a shelf, so when you have multiple 1990 warriors once may go a shel earlier or later for example.

Yeah, I have mine separated by era as best I can. I had a whole thread a year or so ago about what eras to divide by which was pretty interesting, but too lazy to search that out right now. I don't have the display space for them, so they come out around Wrestlemania weekend for my Wrestlemania watch party with my friends and having them divided up by era really helps.

As others have said, it's completely up to you!
I have a Ric Flair shelf.... a Hulk Hogan shelf.... a Macho Man shelf.... I used to have a Sting Shelf, a CM Punk Shelf, and a Shawn Michaels shelf - ran out of space so had to display less...... and there are many different type of figures, brands, and other memorabilia represented, from all eras. Era doesn't really mean much in my "collection world" so to speak....
Everyone collects & displays differently. There are no rules!

I wish we had this because I display mine by era as well I’ve tried the best I can by placing the right figures with the GE, AE and NG. But I’ve probably got a lot in the wrong place. I was curious if anybody has ever made a list of mattel figures listed with said eras. Think somebody with good knowledge should get on it lol.

You play that video with your eyes closed you’re definitely going to think that’s who that is.

And I still got some RA. But I want all mine together by era. I just don’t like seeing wcw mixed in with attitude or Golden era figures, just doesn’t look right. I have close to 400 figures and pretty much have everybody I need , so I wouldn’t see stuff where I’m like “I need this guy to fill this void.” I just need to get them all situated in the right era now.

Depends on how you feel about it, that’s the fun part you decide how you collect
Like the E91 RVD can go with ECW, AE or RA. It’s up to you to decide where to put it, or buy 3 and put it in all of them

Sure, everyone should collect and display their figures however they want. But I completely relate to the OP's point about having a reference for people who want to group their collections by year, era, etc.
It was great when Mattel started adding attire dates to the figures. But that only gets you so far for many of the Golden Era-New Gen wrestlers who might have worn the same gear across multiple years. Or guys who could fit in across multiple collections, such as the E91 RVD or Psycho Sid fitting in anywhere from 95 WWF-late 90s/00s WCW.
Maybe it's not as cut and dry as eras. There's room for debate over when the Attitude Era officially started, for example. But I think date range would be super helpful. There are plenty of times that I spent an unreasonable amount of time scrolling through Network matches or horribly pixelated images from some old Angelfire page to see if I could justify putting this wrestler on this shelf or that shelf.
Not sure if the attire list is still being maintained or handles that. If adding a column there isn't possible, maybe we could some kind of running reference thread going.

I try to do it era/promotion based, but sometimes it falls out of balance and I have to shift guys around. I have a decent number of WWF guys from the 80’s, then 90’s and then I have WCW kind of mixed together as they pretty much mostly fall into 90’s. I have ECW Cactus and Bam Bam with ECW as I have no where else to put them because I’m told ECW is too niche or something like that.
We probably should just mix them up and not worry about it.

I have a Jim Cornette figure posed as Kenny Omega’s manager. This would obviously never happen in real life since Cornette views Omega as the wrestling anti-christ, which makes me love the posing even more.

I’ve thought about making a list of what attire goes with which era, but I just think it would be too time consuming to be done. I’ve just seen some list of things ppl have posted on here before and it’s just got me thinking one day if anybody’s ever made an attire list with years. Just seemed like something cool Mattel could do. Make like a year book type poster or something that has all elites made to go with what year. Not sure if you can tell in this link, but this is my collection, got a lot together or atleast I think what needs to be together anyway. imgur.com/gallery/mcgufJ5

I have an ECW shelf, which only has Bam Bam, Cactus Jack and RVD. Gonna be adding Paul E and Sabu to that once those figures release. But this isn’t something that bothers me to where it needs to be done, again it was just a thought of something I figured would be cool if it was done.
