Why? I have no idea
I just remember seeing him on Heat with Lita and became a fan He had somewhat of a decent run but it quickly fizzled out
Was anyone else big on him?

Very entertaining in the ring and I loved playing as him in No Mercy.
Thing is Lita who was his valet quickly became a bigger star and once they split he just fell flat.

Really enjoyed his work. I feel like if he were young now, he'd have more of a presence, whether it be in the WWE or AEW. Super talented guy.

kinda surprised GCW hasn’t had him featured
I probably remember him overall more from the no mercy game than seeing his matches, I watched them but found him pretty forgettable tbh

Georgia Championship Wrestling has been dead for 30 years! I don't see anyone being on that show anymore.

He literally was relevant for like a couple of months at best.
His February-March 2000 was decent. Featured well, made to look like an attraction in the Light Heavyweight division.
Then after March he did nothing but wrestle on Metal and occasionally Heat.
Lita HAD to leave him. She was so different to other women at the time.

I feel he’d certainly have more of a presence if he was around today instead of the late 90’s/early 2000’s.
WWF didn’t want a light heavyweight division. It was a reactionary response to WCW crushing it with Rey, Juvi, Malenko, Kidman, etc… So Rios never stood a chance on the WWF roster. Likewise if he jumped to WCW, he would have done so during a time of over-inflation of lucha talent - Mysterio, Juvi, Psicosis, El Dandy, Super Calo, LA Parka, just to name a few. And I can’t seem him doing anything but getting lost in the bunch during a time where WCW’s cruiserweight division was turning over to the “new blood” era.
It would have been interesting to see him go to ECW as I feel he could have made a decent name for himself there. Essa Rios vs. Super Crazy would probably have been some fun matches.

I wanted an Essa TTL Figure so bad, even being low on the card he was colourful and would have fit great in the rulers of the ring series
I was also a fan of his, but you could tell he was the lowest on the card
