I read that they protected the powers of pain at Survivor Series 89 because they had a winter 1990 House show tour headlined by Hogan and Boss Man vs Powers of Pain? That doesn’t make sense right? But it had to be something? They pinned both Demolition, neither was pinned and they left Hogan laying. But following the main event house show run they broke them up? So did they really protect them for a two month house show run?

That seems really strange, Boss Man hadn't turned babyface yet. Just looking at the house shows lists, they mainly worked with the Rockers from just after Survivor Series 1989 till WrestleMania 6, and occasionally they worked with Demolition. I do see three house shows where they faced Hogan & Bossman: March 19th and twice on March 25th. I wonder if they thought of re-building them as a monster team at the end of 1989 and beginning of 1990, then decided to change plans in 1990. I also see that they lost to the Rockers quite a bit during this time, including on a Superstars TV taping. Seems strange to keep them strong at Survivor Series for a run with Hogan & Bossman, only to have them lose repeatedly to the Rockers, then only to do three house shows with Hogan & Bossman.
I've also heard that the original plan after splitting them up was to give both guys singles runs with Hogan and Warrior: Barbarian with Warrior and Warlord with Hogan. But those plans never materialized.
Also, that series match was really strange, neither Jake nor Demolition got to eliminate anyone. Zeus and the Powers of Pain were all disqualified, way to make Demolition (who were working with the Tag Team Champions at the time) and Jake to look less than...

I know Bobby on PTW mentioned Barb going after em for the belt but it was dropped pretty quick after that Far as Warlord goes, I know they teased a feud during the Fall of 91 with Hogan but that also went nowhere.

Also to comment on this SSeries match, You can tell they were protecting Zeus as I'm sure Vince was hell bent on the big Mania showdown that thankfully never happened

Makes sense with him just disappearing after that cage match. We dodged a bullet here as man they wouldve stunk up Skydome

the circumstances of the POP split always annoyed me. They should have been LODs first feud & split after Hawk & Animal defeated them. Be fitting since they were brought in to feud with demolition as faces in 88 when Vince couldn't get The Road Warriors. He kept the programme but POP couldn't get it done as faces.

They 100% got protected in that match for some reason, but no one seems to know for sure. Like the poster said above the stuff floating around the internet doesn’t make sense. It wasn’t for a tag title feud, cause Demolition lost the belts at the very next taping.

Yeah the split came outta nowhere. Fuji ''sells'' both their contracts and thats it. I will say though good choices in managers for the solo runs But yeah this is another run that shouldve been much more...

First Fuji takes aim at them with the POP. after failing you have Fuji involved in a slow burn Demolition turn...addition of Crush etc because Eadie's health issues would still have been a thing. Would have been a lot better than the way it all went down.

But I wonder if the original plan of Barbarian working with Warrior and Warlord working with Hogan down the road was true, would they want someone else to go over them? Would they want LOD to beat them before Warrior and Hogan? But, with the way things worked out, neither getting much of a push, and topping out against Bulldog and Bossman, it would have been better to have LOD beat Powers of Pain at SSL90, causing them to split. Then have Mr. Fuji want to get revenge, first by throwing the Orient Express at them, then by getting Demolition back in his stable to get his retribution. This would have led to a match around WM7. The slow burn of turning Demolition would have been good.

I always felt that the Powers of Pain should have been called the Orient Express, and that the Orient Express be called the Powers of Pain.
Why you may ask?? No reason whatsoever.
Thank you for your time reading this.
Ha ha ha
Ahhh.... well that was fun.
