I wonder if Wrestlemania IX would have been better if...
A: No Hogan at all. Just build on the new WWE superstars and base the entire promotion around Bret Hart
B: If Wrestlemania IX was in an actual arena and not outside

And I do wish we got Mach/Razor here instead of Backlund/Razor

What I will never understand is they said Macho Man wasn't wrestling at this time because of his break up and divorce from Elizabeth and he needed time away.
Yet, he wrestled in matches that were for coliseum video or at least the fans while taping of Superstars or Wrestling Challenge. So I am not sure why he couldn't wrestle at Wrestlemania, KOTR or SummerSlam then.

I enjoy this event. I dig the theme of it. The tag match ruled. HBK and Luna together are fun as hell. It’s not a good match but it’s something to see a monster over powering Taker. Announce team was great. Love Doink and him just being an overall dick. I enjoy Bret vs Yoko for what it is.
Remove Hogan and Luger from this, book Razor vs Perfect instead, and you have a solid show.

I know you don't like Luger, but he was the new shinny star that Vince had, so he was going to be there. They could have done Backlund vs Luger, instead. Luger could have gotten his big win with the knockout forearm over Backlund. Razor and Perfect could have had a great match that ended in a double-DQ, or they could do the same finish but with Razor getting the win. Then Perfect attacks Razor and Shawn backstage. |
