Two of the all time greats! It’s shocking too see nearly everyone on Austin’s side but at the same time I understand it... he really is just something else!

Stone Cold. That run he had on top, he was untouchable. The best run ever

Rock overtook Austin in 2000 & Steve never caught back up if you ask me. That's why Austin chose to turn heel. He was stale because he was number 2 babyface. Yeah he overtook him when he was gone....when Austin returned he went back to Number 1 straight away. its all there on the network in the crowd reactions. There's this weird theory Austin turned because he felt Rock was more popular but like everything else surrounding his disaster heel turn? that also doesn't make sense & there isn't a soul out there on the podcasts thinks it either. Rock was scheduled to disappear after WM for 3 months to make movies...so why anyone thinks that would even be a factor in the turn is very confusing.

There will never be another like Austin. the timing...the culture of the 90s...the way the fans went absolutely beserk for him? It will likely never be repeated.

I never believed it tbh. With Rock gone after WM then how does that work? It made sense if Rock stayed but I still wouldn’t really believe it... Imagine Austin turning heel in 99 or end of 2000 or even in January 2001 then that argument would be more believable.

People voted with their remotes too...folks did not want a heel Austin. Same folks who think Austin was stale at this time think he was stale in 02 as well despite being the most over guy in the RR & months after by a country mile.

I loved heel Austin during the invasion angle. Anything he did during that time with Kurt, Taker or Vince was comedy gold. Other than that he's always been a face or tweener in my eyes and the final Rock/Austin match should have been run just the same as Hogan/Rock. Go by ear and whoever gets cheered less plays the part of the heel. Story be damned.
