I know I said in other threads in the WWE boards that I would never want to go back and watch full on episodes of old school wrestling but I am interested in doing a deep dive on some of the superstars whose biggest moments came before I started watching wrestling. I'm going to start with arguably the biggest star wrestling has ever created. I want to do Macho Man and Ric Flair as well so I will eventually make threads for them if this goes well.
So as the title states I want to know what you as Hulkamaniacs believe is "essential viewing" when it comes to the Hulkster? What does every new fan NEED to see. You can give me your top 10 feuds or matches of his. You can break the feuds down by date, by promos I need to see in-between certain matches or however you like and I will be checking it out as I get free time to do so. My knowledge of Hulk before he came back to the WWE as Hollywood Hogan is very limited. I know he was part of the Mega Powers with Macho Man. I know they had a feud over Elizabeth. I know he slammed Andre. I know he was in the NWO. I know he left WWE for WCW etc but like I said, I've never done a deep dive to see his work before that period of time so I dont have the same emotional investment in the stories as people who watched them progress week by week. Everything else has come from highlights or random YT videos. I'd like to bridge that gap with your help.
If this is something you're interested in just leave a reply and I will do my best to check out your recommendations.

I would add his match with Warrior on this list, definitely better than Bundy. I would also mention his matches against Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff, they had some good ones. And his two matches against Taker in 1991.

Don’t necessarily rule out his pre-NWO WCW run. Vs Flair at BATB & Havoc ‘94 are both great.

I’m gonna be the nerd that suggests tracking down his match with Muta from Japan. This sounded like the most bizarre styles clash of all the picks so I'm watching this one first. Wasn't on YT in full so had to go to Dailymotion but I'll try to take some notes as I watch. - for starters I haven't seen Hogan dwarf someone the way he does the referee in the match since he played Thunderlips in Rocky III - Hogan is moving quick in this one. Not just his movement around the ring but the explosiveness of the holds he applies as well - that back body drop on the outside looked pretty gnarly - little over halfway through and it's such an interesting dynamic because I can't tell who is playing the heel. Hogan is raking his nails across Muta's face and tossing the ref down but Muta is using a weapon and terrorizing the crowd - love the clothesline spot where Muta sprints down the ramp - no way, never thought I'd see Hogan hit an enziguri - Tarzan swing was another great spot although the Hulkster didn't take a big enough bump from it for my taste - definitely didn't see Muta kicking out of the leg drop and by their reaction, neither did the fans - watching it end with a clothesline made me chuckle Overall probably the most technical match I've ever seen of Hulk Hogan's but I will say I went into it expecting Great Muta to do some heavy carrying and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Hogan could actually wrestle when he wanted to. Guess he learned that American crowds will pay just as much to watch hulk up, big boot, leg drop, repeat as the Japanese crowds will pay to see a master class in technical wrestling ability.

Wouldn't call myself a Hulkamaniac😄 but will add his cage match with Big Bossman since it hasn't been mentioned.

Essential Hogan viewing huh? Instead of matches,I'll throw out these segments here... This was soooo awesome. One of my favorite moments. This would be a dream ultimate edition set for me. The Funeral Parlor with the wooden coffin and Hulk Hogan casket, and six ultimate edition figures: Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Paul Bearer, Undertaker, Randy Savage and Roddy Piper. Hell, throw in a 7th with Vince on the mic.

You may also want to watch Hogan vs. the Genius SNME 1989, Hogan/Warrior vs. Perfect/Genius SNME 1990, and the 1990 Royal Rumble. All great watches to see the build-up between Hogan and Warrior. You could also watch Hogan vs. Earthquake and Warrior vs. Earthquake, both on superstars 1990 before WrestleMania 6.

There's a lot of great essential options above, but allow me to add a few dark horses - I love most Hogan matches, they're all good fun for me, so here's a few more just fun matches:
Main Event against Andre (Twin Referees) Hogan vs Genius SNME (also be sure to check out the 'broken title promo' from later in the show) Hollywood Hogan vs Bret on Nitro in 98 Hogan vs Honky Tonk Man SNME Hogan and Andre vs Bundy and Studd from 85 or 86 Battle Royal from SNME 87, fun match with good Hogan/Andre build
Edit - I'd add the Brother Love Show from SNME in late 88 or early 89. It was the episode where Andre faced Randy Savage - in another very enjoyable match, and a clinic on how a giant SHOULD sell
