...for quite some time.
Vince lost Demolition, The Rockers & The Hart Foundation in this Calendar year & its arguable he wouldnt have a face team as over as any of them until the NAO in 1998. LOD would derail huge in 1992 and although absolutely brilliant? the Steiner's never had the feuds or intense competition to propel them to the same heights of overness. Plus the business was slumping.
3 huge acts to go when you think about it. I know Ax was gone and Demolition weren't the same but still.

You are right as far as golden era, attitude era had a good year or two with EC, Dudley’s, Hardy’s, Acolytes, and a host of others.
Honestly last year in wwe wasn’t awful either. Ton of great challenges and Usos defended the titles all the time against a ton of different challengers.

You are right.
Look at that battle royal before Wrestlemania VII to see who would wrestle the Hart Foundation for the tag titles.
Demolition LOD Orient Express Rockers Nasty Boys Power & Glory Bushwhackers
By 1992 all that was left was LOD, Nasty Boys and Bushwhackers out of that group.
Though we did get Natural Disasters in late 1991 and through 1992, and Money Inc. in early 1992.
After that, we were lucky to get a total of 4 proper tag teams constantly each year.
1993 started out with the Nasty Boys, Beverly Brothers, the Headshrinkers, High Energy, Money Inc. and Steiners, by the end of 1993 we had Steiners, Men on a Mission, Smoking Gunns, Quebecers, Headshrinkers, and the Heavenly Bodies.
When you compare 1991 - 1993 it really is like night and day. And that was just in under a 2 year gap there.

And two missed opportunities in the Beverley Brothers and Power & Glory. Two really talented teams that could have given Vince and Co serious options in 92.

I mean they were gonna go with P&G, that’s the whole reason the rockers were gonna get the belts in the first place, but a broken rope and signing the nasty boys sent the whole thing in a totally different direction.

The WWF was in dire need of a babyface team in 1992, especially after LOD's suspension and leaving after SSL92. The WWF tried so hard to make the Natural Disasters and Nasty Boys babyface teams, but it didn't work out too well. I even remember them teasing a Beverly Brothers face turn against Money Inc., but nothing came of it. The Rockers could have been the top face team facing off against the Nasty Boys, Natural Disasters, Money Inc., Beverly Brothers, Headshrinkers, and Orient Express. The Rockers as champions would have been great, eking out wins against all of those teams. At the end of the year, or beginning of 1993, after they lose the belts to one of those teams, do the same Rockers split thing on the Barber Shop.

Yikes Also Coach as their manager early on was a big flop. Genius at least fit wayyy better

Outside of The Legion of Doom vs The Beverly Brothers and the formation of The Mega Maniacs, nothing in the tag scene excited me back in 92. There were a few teams here and there I got into such as The Steiners and HBK & Diesel, Owen & Bulldog, but it was not until we had the likes of The New Age Outlaws, Th Hardyz, Edge and Christian and the Dudleyz that I cared about the tag team scene.

Yup....94 -98 was a barren wasteland in the teams scene...no doubt

I watched some old 92 stuff last year and the Beverley’s were doing their Legion of Sissy’s nonsense. There was no way that you could have taken them seriously as a threat to LOD’s titles.

Pat Patterson wanted to bring them in as The Destruction Crew & position them as a the top heel squad. Vince apparently wouldnt hear of it...said the gimmick was too "territory" . The gimmick he gave them was just Cornettes mamas boy gimmick put on wrestlers. Terrible pity.

Destruction Crew>Beverly Brothers all day long 100% and in no small part because Enos & Bloom were legit 2 tough cookies. They carried that badass gimmick off well. Vince missed a trick here...Ill always believe that.
